This took place years ago when I was a young 23yo chef. I was working for a third party company as a salary private chef at a fraternity while also working as a waiter part time for a different place. It was a Monday to Friday 9-5 job but part of my contract included some unspecified Saturdays. A side note being I was a full time server at my other job making more money but cut down to part time to get more specificly into my field with my culinary degree. Well about a month or two into this new job there was a Saturday I needed to work, homecoming/ alumni weekend. This would have been fine except the fraternity didn't inform me and my co-chef till Tuesday the week of. Luckily the new regional was there and told me it would be his first event so I don't need…
Don’t text me on my day off.
My coworker, who was coordinating next week’s schedule, texted me on my day off to see if I wanted to work next week on my day off. After spending much time on this sub, I decided to ignore it and respond when I get to work in the morning. The next morning at 6am she group texts me with my boss calling me out for not responding.
After 4 months of being suicidal,4 months of being mad about job hunting and it's things, after 4 months of me literally pulling my hear out over having no job,I can safely say,I am starting work tomorrow! For 500€ a month,I can finally say “Finally, some money, and peace”
Context: this is about my boyfriends job situation, I am in my 20s, he is in his 30s. I am diagnosed autistic and we both suspect he is autistic as well. We struggle to navigate the world, interacting with coworkers and bosses can be hard and confusing. But it depends on the person, we both have good social lives – if we can choose the people we interact with, it works out. We are in Germany. He recently switched careers, so he just started out working the job he does. He spent a few years to learn for his job and is nearly done so he can work as a “real” employee. Right now his payment is shitty, his boss says he will get paid more once he did his last final thing to be fully educated. But that's only for paperwork, he already works as if he was a…
An opinion in management
I feel like managers and bosses should be forbidden from having relationships with workers, this seems over the top and heavy handed but when managers and bosses chat it up with employees it can cause drama and give some employees the “special” treatment which makes other employees work harder to cover for them. My last job a year or so ago had a manager who would take the same girl over and over out of her class to talk and check up on, i understand having a friendly workplace but when you leave a full classroom of 7 year olds unattended to have quality time with your employee while not telling anyone,, i feel like its crossing a line, thats all
28 days in a month
I work as an English teacher in a Western European country, at an academy, and this place where I'm employed originally asked me to write down my ideal hourly wage at the interview. Later when we reviewed the application we negotiated a slightly lower rate and i left there pleased enough. I've been teaching for many years but I'd been living in Asia and coming back to Europe at a new school i figured I'd need to put in the time to get a raise the following school year. It took him two weeks to get me the contract to sign. A month in, i get my first paycheck and it's a lower number than imagined. I went in to talk to the director and he pulls out his calculator and starts to calculate: (Hourly rate) x (hours per week) x 4… That would mean there are 4 weeks of…
AITA for quitting my job on the spot?
I can’t believe I did it… All of these posts are true anti-work but I feel that the members don’t understand what the actual meaning is. Now I can comfortably choose my hours and coach my son’s baseball team. Now I can take him to school. Now I can be there to help him when he needs me and watch my other baby grow. Although the road will be hard and the weekends will be full of paperwork or labor, it will be worth it… wish me luck, Reddit.
