This is a really cool satire subreddit!
I just wanted to thank everybody who works hard to post here. The posts here really make my day. The jokes are amazing, and the satire is just chef’s kiss!
I've always been pretty lucky with jobs, and any I don't like I just leave. I've ended up in a role where we are all pretty close, management treat us like people, and I genuinely think I'll be here until retirement. My wife on the other hand is on minimum wage, works in a place with a toxic culture, is constantly asked questions on her days off, and is constantly stressed. I keep trying to get her to stand up for herself but she won't. At least once per week she's spending an hour or so explaining herself for other people's mistakes or due to terrible processes and systems. She feels obligated to respond no matter what I say. Like she's fearful of losing her minimum wage job that she hates. (I could easily support get whilst she finds something else) I feel like I'm at my wit's end. How…
I work in the People Analytics and Research team in HR for a truly global company where we look at company culture, employee engagement, flight risks etc. (Things that you all hate!) And I totally get the anti work sentiment. Especially towards a large corporate machine like the one I work for. Do you actually quit your job? If so what do you do for money?? In a perfect world I'd also be anti work, but have 3 kids and a wife to support so try to make the best of it. Curious to hear your thoughts.
Are we against work or against the condition workers endure? For me it's the second one, me guess is most will agree, if so why's it called anti work and not workers rights?
Wondering if any knowledgeable folks can help steer me in the right direction. So far I have learned that Lenin and Stalin were very committed to the cause.
Seeking feedback
I recently hired an employee for the first time about a month ago. It's the first time I have ever done that. I want to make sure the working conditions are good. She's the sole employee so the culture is solely dependent on me and I work remote a lot. What types of questions should I ask to get honest feedback as I would want to change anything quickly? I wish I could afford to give her a raise but I can't afford it at the moment as one of my contacts downsized. I hope I don't have to let her go. That's the biggest downside.
Be aware of Propaganda users
State actors love to send their propaganda puppet accounts to places where dissatisfaction with the status quo is high and fan the flames of discord. This is why places like r/WayOfTheBern is littered with Pro Russia stuff right now. The common themes to watch out for: Sensationalization, over-villainization, and pitting allies against each other. Mods, if you see this, can you please create a user account age limit? I just saw a really popular post that reeks of being a propaganda account that was created on February 28th.
Feel Good Post
With all the miserable places to work out there, I thought you guys might enjoy a story of what it can be like to work in a pleasant atmosphere. My department decided, on the spur of the moment, to eat lunch together in the conference room and play bingo. The powerball drawing is coming up, and they were using the bingo balls (from the Christmas party) to choose lottery numbers. We're going to pool some cash and buy tickets. It was decided the bingo loser got to be the one to go purchase the lottery tickets. A good time was had by all. 🙂
