What's your story if you did? Because I'm one of them: Got my BA at 24, MA at 27, but it took 5 1/2 years (of unemployment) to find a job that suited my level of education, so I was almost 33 when I got started, not exactly common ! (…ok, granted, I was extremely lucky because a family member of mine was a business owner, so he made me references and a work certificate signed by his hand from his own business to cover this long ass gap which would have been VERY hard to explain, in order to make me desirable or I doubt I would have gotten employed lol, but still it worked wonders and I'm doing good now…and I also learned to feel less guilt from embellishing the truth due to how tough it is out there). nb: not living in the USA though

I see a lot of people on here complaining that they have to go back to the office instead of WFH, and plan on quitting their job if the transition back happens. I'm sweating my balls of working at a construction site and would very much like to have the boring office job in the temperature controlled building. I've applied to these type of jobs on indeed multiple times, but never get a response back because of the flawed online system that businesses are using to hire new employees. Basically hmu on the pm if you are about to quit your office job. I would very much like to have it. I'm also a Delta male so no worries about this so-called toxic office culture or passive aggressive co workers. Those are trivial to me, and my mental willpower is more than enough to handle the vanilla office drama!

We know it happens constantly that a company sacks workers and has record profits. I feel like a huge number of the problems associated with capitalism come from the total lack of any incentive to do anything with profit other than keep it. For instance, take a company like a website. What they're “supposed” to do (according to some business theory) is, once turning a profit, reinvest that profit back into the company. Make a million dollars, so hire ten new people and expand operations. What they actually do, and this scales up with business size, is fire staff and make their profits even higher, and that money goes to shareholders. So could you have a law stopping it? Could you cap the amount of money a company can legally make and keep, this requiring them to put extra money back into the company? They'd have to raise wages and…

It’s ridiculous how they think that as consumers they think we will eat this cost of false narrative of pumping up gas prices on top of ridiculous inflation- please work from home , don’t consume more than what you need – this has got to stop.

Feel like I’m going to puke and my heart is racing so I texted them explaining the situation and that I’d try and pull it together but I may be late. My shift starts in 6 minutes and I don’t know if I can do this. All they responded with was “See you soon”. At this rate I’m ready to say “I threw up so I’m going home”. What the hell. I also work with a vulnerable community and don’t want to get them sick.
