While there are a lot of benefits to work from home capabilities, this also made me realize employers may try to push boundaries even harder when you need to use time off. I asked him if he’s ever had a kidney stone and he hasn’t. I tried to explain the level of excruciating pain I’m in and that I don’t think he wants me to work on heavy painkillers, and I can only hope he is as understanding as he says he is. Not to mention me being up almost all night in the hospital… Now I’m supposed to be resting, on-and-off in some of the worst pain in my life, and instead I’m worried if he really believes me, or if I am going to be seen as a slacker for not wanting to take my laptop to bed with me while I writhe in pain and wait to…
Considering the fact that I get my job done despite all of the time during the working day I spend messing around on my phone, waiting for my computer to load, banging my head against the desk etc. – there is just no way my company reducing my full time working week to 25-35 hours from the 45-55 I do now would negatively affect them whatsoever. I worked a 12 hour shift last week, that’s 4 hours overtime for free because I’m salaried. When I asked if I could leave an hour a few days later I was told I could if I made up the hour the following week. I was in shock. I’m relatively young and have been an entrepreneurial person since I can remember, I think 10 year old me would be in disbelief that instead of running my own business like I planned, I am exploited…
I honestly don't know where to begin or how to even feel at this point. I am a 28 year disabled veteran. I was hurt in the military where I destroyed both my feet and recieved a horrible head injury. My feet injury causes me to have to sit once in a while and my head causes sleep issues for me now so I'm required to work during the day. Well I was hired by Amazon in their Aeliability and Maintenance Engineering department. Mainly fixing motors, conveyor systems, and robots. I was hired for day shift do to my head injury this was stated during the hiring process several times, as well as being documented and disclosed through the disclosure papers provided during the hiring process. Did all my trainings, and then was pulled off to the side by a manager telling me I'm actually on nights now from 7pm…
Minimum Wage Should Be $55.80 per hour
So I posted in another subreddit what to do about a coworker of mine that has obvious boundary issues with one of our clients. I work with vulnerable people so I find this to be absolutely unacceptable. He only treats this one person “special” compared to others that we work with and I find this to be very uncomfortable. Well the other subreddit told me to go to a higher up manager with the issue.. I was told that they have never personally seen it. Made excuses that he really wants to just help and must really love the work he does…wtf. And then was literally told to bring “receipts”. Nope no boundaries training or anything. I'm done with companies. I'm done working. How do I make a living with no income or job? Cause I'm about to quit.
