Landlord here: I agree with you
I'm a property owner and wanted to say that I completely agree with the sentiments I have seen expressed on this sub about housing costs and the attitudes of landlords. The idea that a person would live off passive rental income is absurd and perpetuates the gross inequality that exists in the United States. Charging excessive rental prices basically guarantees that the average person will never be able to save enough money for the down payment on a house that would allow them to start building wealth through home ownership. Real estate should be considered a long-term investment, not a primary source of income. In my case as a condo owner, my goal is to break even on my expenses (mortgage, insurance, tax, HOA, and maintenance) with the income I receive from rent. My investment will pay off over time through building equity and appreciation of the property value. I…

Hello y'all! Want to do a bit of praxis and strike a small blow against the “Freedom Convoy” fascist uprising? Let's disrupt their web presence. The uprising is partly organized by a Proud Boys-linked fascist group called Canada Unity. We can easily flood their forums, and potentially slow or crash the site in the process. Major media outlets reference it, so this could at least be embarrassing for them. We can target the Freedom Convoy site too. Steps: Create a free account at protonmail.com, with fake info. Visit canada-unity.com, and create an account with the anonymous email address. Log in, and start posting absolute garbage and noise into as many groups as possible. e.g. I've been pretending I'm fighting to legalize running over pedestrians. Edit: I'm obviously not actually fighting for these, jeez. Do the same on the Freedom Convoy website: https://freedomconvoycanada.com/. They moderate it a bit more, but with…
Is hard to get a job.
I tried to applied for distinct jobs after I graduate from associate in my university, but get a work had becoming hard. I tried in amazon but they become more strict that ever and the other jobs tried to applied had a shitty schedule.
I work in the education world. My whole department has to work this Saturday from 8am-4:30pm. When it was brought to our bosses attention that we should get comp time for this, their response was “well it’s part of the job. It’s been on the calendar”. As if giving us advance notice of forced weekends makes it okay. The job has a lot of these “well it’s part of the job” moments that are required and outside work hours. And we nearly never get comp time for it.
So i started work around 3 weeks ago, i hate it. I've broken down in tears everyday before work so far. To start off with im a young female and im working in the service and food industry. The way management talks to me is disgusting, it's snappy, it's rude and abrupt, it's like im less than nothing when I'm still learning the job and how to do all different parts of it. They have Zero patience for someone new and learning it's disgusting. I've worked in jobs where management was bad but never so rude and ill mannered. The other thing is the hours, they're awful. I'm working parttime and when i was hired i asked to be working during the day if possible as that would work for me and also said i wasn't available a certain day of the week. I'm now working afternoon shifts until night…
