Last week / out of touch boss
So here I am, sitting asleep at the wheel, my last week at a job that I've grown to hate. My boss is your typical out of touch boomer: presses keyboard buttons like she's firing phasers on the 1960s Enterprise, drags every available staff member into interviews (sometimes topping 8-10 people), has more unnecessary virtual meetings than actual face time around the center. I fully expected to not have to serve out two weeks notice based on things she's said about it in the past, but when you've had 10% of your workforce quit in the past week and nobody trained to backfill my position, I suppose compromises have to be made? I have PTO in the bank and decided that I'm going to take a day off this week. Wednesday. I submit for the request and shoot her and another manager a quick text stating I'll be off on…
Annual goals time! So exciting!
Who else loves setting goals and acting like they care about “moving up” or pursuing a leadership position? It's such a fun thing to do just to maintain a job and support yourself. Just get me a manager who doesn't give a shit about anything beyond me just doing my job every day and leaving. I'm not increasing my workload because next time around, I'll be expected to increase my workload again. Hard pass!
