Why should I give you my personal information so that you can turn around and sell it, with the slim compensation that I might be contacted for an interview? Times this by 1000+ applicants for each job ad and you get an entirely synthetic industry known as “recruitment”.
I am a substitute teacher. I work for a county in the south. I came in today and got right to work. Well, as it is, the teacher I am subbing for has 2 back to back planning periods at the end of the day. I was happy, thought I may get out a little early. Well, my last class came to an end and I went to the office to check out. I was told “we own you until the final bell rings.” When I asked what they had for me to do, they said nothing. They Say “It’s Not Possible”
Today during an HR meeting employees were told that since we use our phones for work related things (i.e. phone calls to other employees/managers/customers, texts, pictures, maps) All while being out in the field and not given a work phone. That our phones can be searched at anytime. I don’t think this is legal, I think they need a warrant or subpoena if they wanted anything personal from me.
I currently work at a large navy contractor in the eastern US. I make just under $70k a year before tax and deductions and have been full-time for approaching 2 years. I began as a paid intern working with the cybersecurity team in a position I really enjoyed. I got to investigate captured malicious files for myself and gain valuable practical skills in a field I studied for. When it came time to transition to being a co-op (intern but paid more and during the school year), the cybersecurity department didn't have space for me and I was due to go to another IT department that would work on things going on navy ships as opposed to corporate IT. In lieu of a new promotion, I'm gathering data for negotiations. Retail Store Manager, won't give out too many details for obvious reasons. New Location is projected to do 70k in sales a weeks. More than a %100 increase from where we're currently at. Been with the company since '17. Addition work includes more Trucks, & perishables. Going from a staff of 6, to 13 I'll be overseeing. Current pay is mid 40s.
