I've just been sent an email circulated through our company with each job roles chargeout rate to clients. I am paid $30/hr, and get charged out at $120/hr. What the fuck??? Is it normal to get charged out at 4x your wage??? methinks: could I expect to charge out the same rate as someone self-employed…?
I (f17) started my first real job working as a waitress at a sushi restaurant back in december of 2021. I took this job because i was desperate and they hired me on the spot, but honestly ever since i started it has been absolute hell. The only thing keeping me there are my amazing co-workers and regulars along with the money. When i originally came in looking for a job position i asked if they were hiring hostesses and i was told yes and that i could begin working the following Friday. When i showed up for my first shift i found out that there wasn't a hostess position and that they had actually hired me to be a server. I figured i would go ahead and try it since i was already there and within my first 20 minutes i was already fed to the wolves and serving…
Corrective Action for Citing Labor Law
Backstory – So I work in California. I normally have weekends off, and my company has a very liberal time off policy. Well, I ended up pulling my back at the gym and was out for a few days (which counted as one call out because of my doctor’s note), then a week later I had to take care of family (covered under FMLA), but got sick from them. So I called out again for both days. The way I see it, I’m not a slave and my benefits are there to use. My boss switches my days, but tells me its because of scheduling, effectively taking my weekends from me (which could have been used to recover from being sick), then tells me that he’ll give me an alternate day off the next week so that my weekends can continue as planned. This would be fine, EXCEPT, nobody tells…
Notice or No Notice
I work at Walmart and I finally got a new job so I can get out of this hell on earth. I work in a downtown area when everyone forgets basic human decency. Even the managers. There is only one manager that treats us like human beings. So my question is should I just quit on the spot or give them a little bit of notice? Those bitches are not getting two weeks out of me either way but I feel like I should give the nice manager a heads up.
So I've worked for my current employer since April 2015. I've took approx 4 days off in that period. I've received 6 separate promotions/changes to title over that period and managed various departments and big projects for the business. Throughout the pandemic, I was fortunately one of those that were not adversely affected and in fact the demand increased exponentially. During the pandemic I was promoted again and risked my physical health for the sake of our business delivering on KPI's. 3 weeks ago, my dog died. Last week, I moved into my first mortgaged home. It just feels like so much is happening but I don't really know what to do? I've asked for a double demotion back to an operational role to relieve my workload and to allow myself time to mentally recover and hopefully over time I'll be ready to head back into a management role again,…
This is how Amazon started

Haven’t missed a beat in these two years and for no reason other than “wanting to get back to normal” we are being forced back into the office. Several people have asked about a hybrid schedule and were denied that too. We were told to bring in our computers, so now we won’t even have the option. It’s pretty laughable and a perfect example of a company being stuck in its old ways because “that’s how it’s always been.” I’ll be demanding a solid raise to compensate me for the money lost in gas money because I have a very long commute. Or they can let me keep working from home and I’ll be happy with my current rate, otherwise I’ll let them know I’m quitting. Fingers crossed
I cant find anything easily via Google on CA state employment sites to say they can NOT offer sick time. Company is not CA based, where paid sick is also a law. Anyone have resources or thoughts on how to challenge this? CA law 1 hr per 30 hr worked Home office law 1 hr per 40 hr worked My company takes sick pay out of PTO bank, but if you dont have PTO you cant call in sick. Been with company 6 months. Missed 1 unscheled day so far. Got denied day off for Doctor appt
Calling your boss’s boss! (Small rant)
Ugh… Ok …. I enjoy my job. I have enough on my plate that keeps me fulfilled but little enough that it dose not mess with my home life. Well A project I was working in had a small hiccup , and I was their only contact, I could not approve what needed to be done and I could not reach my boss. So I called 2nd in charge he could not approve it either. I asked what to do , 2nd in charge “call the big boss.” I didnt want to talk to them, Im dont like doing that. They fixed the problem, yay, but I stuttered thru the whole question how to get something approved , apologized for have to get them involved like 6 times, thanked them more time then I could count. Now Im just hoping that there is no back lash for having to do…
