Lately it's felt more empowering to think of the money that I earn not as a salary that is decided by someone else and given to me, but more like a fee that I charge them for providing a service that they need. Maybe thinking that way can motivate others to be more cognizant of the value of the work that they do for others (especially mid and large size companies) and take action if they feel like they're in a financial situation that makes them feel powerless.
Dave and Buster’s has made me anemic
Title. I’m a server at Dave and Busters and one of the shitty things about it is no breaks. No 5, no 10, and no 30. At a time, I could work 13-15 hours without getting a single break. After some time working there, the doctors found me to be anemic and malnourished. Eventually this led to me having panic attacks from insufficient vitamins. The mental and physical load has led me to absolutely hate this fucking place. What can I do about it? What is Dave and Buster’s doing to allow this?
It has been said many times here, but employers have bred the current negative attitudes towards employers. As a millennial going through the recession of '07/'08, we were reminded daily that we were expendable. There were 100's of people begging for a job, any job, and we were more than happy to get the crumbs we were left. Our homes, cars, credit, social standing, all was held at ransom for the sake of corporate greed. Well the shoe is on the other foot now. That B.S. of company-employee loyalty doesn't exist, it's a facade for companies to get more out of workers for less. When COVID hit, so many places laid off workers due to expenses, now they can't find enough people to work. Congrats, corporate America, you played yourself, pick yourself up by your boot straps, pay your employees what they're worth, or go out of business. Power to…
I just want to argue…..

I’m gone 11:15 to 12:15. They’re gone from 12:00 to 1:00 That’s 45 minutes of nobody watching or speaking to me. I got asked about it once, but I just said “that’s when I get hungry” and it was never brought up again lol
