I'm working as a full-time (40 hours/week) full stack web developer and I make a little under 2500€/month. I feel that it's less than I should get. I work in a small company (less than 15 employees, single office) in Finland. I'd like to hear some opinions if I'm crazy or if it's really too little. I have experience of my field from over 10 years time, but most of that time I've worked independently through my own business (worth noting that the business was very minimal, I mostly have that business set up to sell photos). The company designated me as junior web developer when I took the job back in 2020. That irked me a little, since I have a lot of experience but none from working for a third party company. Last fall there were some big changes in my life which impacted my performance at work…
I got a job at the movie theater and even though it pays my state’s minimum wage, the benefits are outstanding: 1. I get infinite free movie tickets 2. I get half off on concessions I happen to be saving for college with this job to be an actor, so the opportunity to see every movie to study every actor’s techniques without worrying about the cost is exceptional. Plus, the manager actually seems nice! There’s literally a contract that says they can never ever take away the free movies and concessions discount. 🙂 bosses, if you’re gonna offer minimum wage, at least offer good benefits like this.
Aight, prices went up due to inflation, where the fuck our wage raises?
So a qiuck run down: I started a new job (I’ve officially been here 7 weeks today but most of this is focused on my first 4 weeks) and my boss was basically an absolute asshole from the beginning. Any slight mistake I made was met with name calling (i.e. “you made us look like a bunch of idiots” when I was told to send an email reminder for a class without being told about how the filing system works on my literal FIRST day) or belittlement and cursing (“fck, okay you're fcking it up. From now on you need to take down what I say exactly and repeat it back to me verbatim so I know you won't f*ck it up again” in response to me sending out links to Zoom recordings for Days 1, 2, and 3 in a Day 4 event reminder email – mind you everyone…
