If my boss says one word to me today I'm walking out
I have an interview at Lowe’s tomarrow.
I just wanted to see people opinion on working at Lowe's. I apply today and got an interview right away. The only downside is that they didn't post how much their pay is. Do they tell you in the interview?
Exhausted and Burned Out.
For the most part, I like my job. When we are fully staffed throughout the late night, it’s a breeze. I go in at 10pm, do what I need to do and get out at 6am. I even get paid extra for working overnights, not that it’s a lot, but it’s something. Lately though, we’ve been bare bones when it comes to employees, and it’s wearing me out. Since we are the only 24 hour convenience store/gas station in my city, we are constantly busy and barely have enough people to run the cash register, cook, bake and put away the nightly truck. Most of the time I’m the one doing both bakery and kitchen, while it’s only one person out on the floor. Doing this 6 days in a row with, sometimes, a single day off in between is getting to me. I know there really isn’t a lot…
So don't talk to me about “violence”
I took the enneagram test which didn’t ask me anything religious, but the results talked about my connection to “Christ and Gospel.” Curious if anyone knows if this is even legal
the hall of fame/hall of shame
Just yesterday we were told that there would be a “hall of fame, and hall of shame”. I politely stated my case, informing that I thought that “hall of shame” was a terrible idea, and a sure fire way to demotivate people. I was simply told that a way not to get into the hall of shame was to have good results, thus complety missing the point. Today I see that we do have a hall of fame and (suprise) a hall of improvement. So either: A) a higher representative told management that “hall of shame” is indeed a terrible idea B) even though I was shotdown for stating my case, my idea was taken into account. Now, if it was option B, then why shoot down my idea ,? Maybe because I'm just a peasant and ideas coming from “regular” agents are shot down on instinct. Idk.
I have two vacations planned at the end of the year. One to Disney in august and one to our families favorite place, smoky mountains TN in November. I’m thinking of not coming back after the smoky mountain vacation. I want to work enough to save for my troops and take the rest of November and December off and enjoy the holidays until I can find something else. To those of you who have saved some money and quit. What do you do about insurance. That is the biggest concern for me. Thanks for your input.
Things my managers think are work….
I work for a large organization with many levels and locations of managers who produce nothing of value imo. I have noticed over the years here are some of the things they think qualify as work for themselves: 1 – Forwarding emails that have already gone out to everyone from another manager to show they agree with them. 2 – Creating lists of people and offices that haven't done something as quickly as they want, and telling them it is a priority. Everything is always a priority. 3 – Holding zoom meetings for all offices where the topic only pertains to a few offices. 4 – Making us do yet another report showing that we did our jobs. For some tasks I do, I have to fill out four different reports saying I did it – the reports sometimes take longer than the task itself. 5 – Reminding us to…
This happened years ago I want to say I was 17 at the time so it was around 2009. When I was younger I looked for jobs I could work in my town and the only one that was in walkable distance was a gas station(public transport in USA sucks). I actually went right to the door and asked for a job and the guys took down my phone number. They called me back like a month later on a Thursday at like 3am asking if I could come into work on the weekends and I said yes. When I got there I realized almost all my co-workers were middle eastern dudes that did not speak good English. They actually loved talking to me because they could practice their English with me daily. I became friends with them. They had all won a green card in the visa lottery system…
I did an interview for a job a month or two ago. I had a job I didn’t mind and my boss was pretty good and the flexibility was excellent, but it paid pretty low. I did the interview and flew through it. I was clear to both them and the agency that I needed flexibility otherwise it wasn’t going to work for me. They insisted that was absolutely fine and I would only need to be in the office occasionally and could work from home and work flexi time. I have disabled family members so it’s an absolute dealbreaker. I gave them a three weeks notice to me needing to leave early after starting early one day, and it’s been a huge deal. I don’t have a carer for a family member and tried to take a couple of days annual leave and got told they wouldn’t normally approve…
