Not that we’d change our values but I think the man has no idea how much that number affects the fire in the belly of the masses to end them. Enough of the right kind of pressure we make that number happen, we still fight but maybe with fewer molotov’s. 🙂
So, I stopped what I was doing and grabbed the store manager (who was also threatened by the same guy) and I asked “What the hell is he doing here?” The store manager said that he had talked with the owner and was allowed to come back. I’m absolutely livid. One, there should be a zero tolerance for aggressive behavior from both customers and employees. Second, I wasn’t even consulted regarding the decision to allow him to return. Thirdly, I am appalled by the blatant disregard for my safety from my employer. I am in an area all by myself. If I was to be attacked, I wouldn’t have any immediate help. I am in complete disbelief.
Toxic hotel workplace
I moved to Ireland last year and I have found a job in a hotel working as a receptionist as I have a Diploma in Hotel management and also a Degree in Tourism studies. The manager was super nice to me in the interview but the second I started, she showed her real true self. I don't even know where to start from first of all, we do so so many tasks unrelated to front office. Such as taking care of all the social media pages, writing and printing the daily menus, we also take all payments for food and beverages items ( rather than they pay at the restaurant or bar) and we also respond to all management emails and such. However, if you make a mistake, it could be a very small error, you would get called names such as you're a donkey, how silly you are, you…
It seems like the complete opposite of what you'd expect. The union should be for the people but from my experiences they always agree to the most insane anti employee practices like mandatory weekend overtime x times a month.
ATX people making things happen
It’s all about money
I have this part time job I work on top of my day job. It's intermittent and overnight, but I am a W2 employee, and when they need me, it is usually 12 hour overnights, so I'll end up doing 57-70 hours a week, working days and overnights. They're disorganized for the most part as well, and I find out about shit at the last minute. Nonetheless, I actually refer people to their recruiters and feel pretty good about my employment there. I've had a lot of jobs in my life and I have hated every single one of them. Like, 10+ in 16 years, and every last one of these jobs has just been awful in some way or another. This job tho? They're flexible with me, kind, and most of all.. they pay fucking money. None of this 15/hr bullshit. I show up, and get paid 29/hr for…
And this is why I have no set career. My resume is literally 1-2 yrs at each job. I do have a career field but if you were to look at my resume you’d be like “what the fuck is this mess”. Well this fucking mess is because of bad managers not improving or good managers leaving and having bad managers replace them or it’s because of the pay. I’m a bio major who has been working for 10 years since graduating. I have worked at 7 companies…going on 8 next monday. I’m now changing careers. This is all because of poor managers and terrible pay. The system is broke and no one seems to care to fix it. Why should someone be paid less than $20 hr to conduct field surveys and reports, manage staff and volunteers, manage expenses, and do their own scheduling and time card. Madness.
I work as a SWE in a decently specialized field. I had a final interview last week, shortly after which I got a message from the recruiter saying they’d like to make me an offer, which they would be extending this week. Today the recruiter calls me and tells me they finished interviewing everyone and went with a different candidate. Which I know is some grade A BS because the VP of engineering who I talked to Friday said they’re looking at add 50 engineers to the team. The real reason was because I asked for the top end of the salary range they gave me. My field is decently specialized and in demand so I’m not too worried about the job itself since I’m already interviewing with other companies. But when they pulled that shit after a phone screen, take home, and 5 interviews it was infuriating to say…
