I'm sick of the absurd prices, hidden fees and exploitation of both drivers and restaurants. A couple of friends and I (we're college students) have decided to build our own food delivery platform. We're committed to making all the code open source and as a non-profit, all revenue will go directly to the drivers (and some running costs e.g servers etc) A few ideas we had: Allow drivers to set their own delivery price and compete freely in the local market with other drivers. Build relationships with local restaurants who hate UberEats and DoorDash and make exclusive deals with them. Allow anyone to contribute to building the platform on github. Purchase good food that restaurants are gonna throw out and sell it for super cheap. I'd love some feedback and suggestions from you guys! Also for anyone interested in contributing, please reach out! The github isn't public yet but I…
I’m getting sick of seeing posts and comments that start out with some sob story and then go into how they aren’t actually a worker, but an armed government official that directly represents the violence necessary to maintain capitalism. We already have “no politicians, no CEOs” – why not no boots?
If my calculations are somewhat accurate an individual earning $17 a hour is actually earning $1.70 a hour when you adjust for: inflation lack of minimum wage increase to boost the base Imbalance gap between take home pay for minimum wage and the price of gold So I ask the question: what is the longest amount of time you have hid yourself in the bathroom? Are there people monitoring bathroom activity? Any additional tips and tricks for making the most out of your workday?
Rap for all of us
I just saw a post about this sub talking shit about a software engineer. I was just wondering how many of you despise people for simply making more money than you vs not liking the conditions in which have to work daily? Personally I am a software engineer working one of those cushy jobs, making six figures. But I didn’t start here. I worked almost ten years in the food service industry learning how to have a good work ethic. Then I spent another three in a very unstable sales position learning how to connect with people and learning how to effectively communicate. Then I destroyed my credit to go to a coding boot camp while not working with two kids. I Came out on top after a long time of grinding. I worked my ass to be in this position, and along the way I had to endure a…
Job interview tomorrow
I haven't had a boss or a set schedule for 5 years. My interview tomorrow is for a management position at a construction company. I only want to work 4 days a week. How should I bring it up.
I work for a construction company as an estimator. I have worked at this company for 7 years, 2 of them as bookkeeper and the rest as estimator. I was on W2 status (an employee) up until August 2021, with some extra given in cash. I figured out pretty quickly that the cash didnt count as income since it wasn't shown on my W2 or pay stubs. I asked that he increase my gross pay to cover the extra, and the boss decided the taxes were too high and moved me to 1099 status. I didnt have too much of a problem with it at first because subcontractors get more freedom with their schedule and taking time off when they need to. But that is not the case. Even if I get my work done at 2PM, I am expected to be in this chair at my office from 8AM-4PM…
anyone know the legality of this?
ATTN. ALL DRIVERS: Transflo's MUST be sent in as soon as a load is complete. Due to numerous issues with not getting paperwork on time will result in a late paperwork of $50 per load per day it is late. If it still continues to be an issue we will increase the fee. Our customer requires us to invoice our loads and send to them within 24 hours of delivery or we risk not getting paid at all. Thanks I'm a truck driver and this is never an issue with me, but can a company do something like this? I understand wanting to get stuff turned in on time to get paid for freight, but not 100 certain assigning fees is ok. Any sources for anything sited would be great. Thank you
