TLDR at the bottom Basically as the title says, I work at a liquor store, today I was 15 minutes late because of traffic, I texted my boss 10 minutes before I was supposed to be in to explain to him why I wouldn't be in on time, when I got to work he called me into his office and told me if it happens again I'm going to be out a job. Now rewind to last saturday, my Coworker “C”, who started 1.5 months ago came into work for his 12-9 shift completely shit faced, stumbling around, slurring his words, dropping bottles, making customers uncomfortable, the whole 9 yards, it got to the point that my manager had to call my boss to come in and witness it for himself (as this isn't the first time it's happened, and my coworker C has been caught stealing shots of vodka…
A certain 3 letter acronym of a company just tried to negotiate with me to stay on as a tech after I put in my notice. Our hours are slashed so bad that I'm barely getting enough to still be considered full time, not to mention our workload is f'd due to a new system in place specifically designed to slow us down. I said I was done with it, if they can't afford the tech hours, they can't afford the tech. Apparently I was a “dependable” and “exceptional” employee, which I've learned is corporate speak for “desperate pushover.” I've learned my lesson though, and I almost laughed at them when they tried to keep me on with a $2 raise. Not a raise for training to become inventory specialist, not a raise for that “exceptional” work, a raise to not quit and save their asses. Too bad, maybe you…
Do most people agree with this??
Employer accused me of theft.
Basically title. Is there anything I can do to retaliate against this legally? The claim was false, I proved it, case got closed. But I'm fuming fucking mad and don't want to work there anymore. Nuclear revenge advice appreciated. PS- My union rep saved my ass and composure. As soon as they closed the door I told them I wanted my union representative. They stopped and got her in there. Yes or no answers, ladies and gentlemen. Vote fucking union.
Unbelievably Sexist Interview
I went for a job in a warehouse, I had 5 years warehouse experience. The first thing the owner said was “I don't want to hire a woman but I'm not allowed to put that in the job ad. I already have one woman working here and I don't think women can work together” After a while of him telling me he doesn't think I can lift things with my stature, he decided to bring the female worker in to the interview room to “see how we would interact” he said this like it was the most brilliant idea he'd ever had LIKE WE WERE CATS
