It’s funny how people will literally tell you their life story to try to convince you to trust them. Be their therapist for a whole fucking year and then get thrown under the bus when someone else fucks up. Why tell me all about your drama if you’ll turn around and be a dick? I really don’t care that your spouse is mean or how hard your divorce is, and now I have no reason to listen. And it’s not like they were trying to gather up shit about me, just throwing their dramatrauma into the middle of my day. Don’t trust them, even if they seem trustworthy or need you more than you need them. The amount of fuckery your coworkers can pull even if it’ll bite them in the long run is astonishing.
TL;DR: I do remote work but am forced to do it from the office, got Covid from the same offices which are constantly falling short of the government guidlines for Covid safety. CEO doesn't care about workers' safety or comfort, reacts very egotistically when criticized. I work as remote tech support for mostly elderly customers in Denmark, while physically being located in Spain, where the main offices of the company are. Given the nature of my work, I feel strongly that this can and should be done from home rather than from the office, especially during Covid times. The following email exchange comes after a recent mass-email from the CEO promoting an upcoming sports tournament which the company sponsors started with the sentence: “Now that Corona is behind us, we can all enjoy this tennis tournament with friends and family”. Reading this after just having Covid a few weeks earlier,…
We are family
I had an interview and got offered roughly the same amount of money I’m getting now at my current job. I told the guy that I expected more (IT position) but he stated that it would be unfair to my future coworkers. Then proceeded to ask me how long is the notice I’m going to give to my current employer. Lol excuse me? Why would you think I am willing to accept a job farther from home for the same pay as now? I politely told him that I was not willing to take the job, so he told me he’ll leave me a few days to think about the offer. He called me the next week, declined the job again. Why do you even try lol
Howdy! Been working in insurance for almost two years. I started during the pandemic as a completely work from home employee, this last month they've moved us to a hybrid schedule with two days per week in the office. Frankly, it's really sucked having to go into that enormous office and fend off small talk from people I hate and I'm now officially looking for other work. But what's worse than that, they now seem hellbent on not using any of the benefits of the work from home infrastructure they set up at great expense and STILL HAVE ME USING THREE DAYS A WEEK. I was recently hit by some kid in a parking lot and don't have access to my car until it's fixed. I wouldn't have even been out in my car at the time if I hadn't been forced to go into the office these last few…
When you do the math…..
I recently was on Indeed and came across an entry level, management trainee position in my area at 84 Lumber. This would be a position that is bachelor's preferred and requiring 2 – 4 years of related experience. The starting pay was listed as 40k per year. I found this interesting because when I graduated with my bachelor's in 1997, I took an entry level management position in the same area with Roadway Express for 35k to start. So I found an online inflation calculator and decided to see what the equivalent of 35k in 1997 would be in today's dollars. The answer? $61,869. And when add to the fact that both the benefits and time off are even worse, plus the cost of college being what it is, that is a joke of a starting salary. The minimum wage in my state, which is MA, is going up to…
