Got an email rejection after an interview, which is fine. No where did it say “no reply” so I replied asking for feedback. Apparently they don’t expect people to do that.

So sick of being given pats on the head over actual pay

For context, I was recently hired by an ATT authorized retailer, so not exactly a corporate regular store. Now I haven’t been in sales too long, but I got in because I know how to market. The stores been open for two weeks, and I’ve been hitting the ground sprinting. Going to local business to quote them for internet and business phone lines, getting leads on potential clients, the whole fucking nine. I even got one local restaurant to move to us. Keep in mind this is all two weeks after opening up the doors. I’m being payed $15/hr on top of $5-$10 commissions for upgrades, etc. And every time I’m on Google Maps looking for clients, my boss always gives me a “You’re doing great hun.” or “Great job.” I don’t even make enough to fucking apply for a $850/month house in California. I don’t want your goddamn “Good…

How do they expect to keep employees at the depressing room I work in? PSA: Ask to see your work environment before taking a job.

I was hired to be a single lab tech at one of our satellite doctor offices. The headquarter office has a big, beautiful, functional lab with 8 techs. When I got hired and saw the room I’d be working in, I felt disappointment. Think of a simple doctor’s office room where you wait for the doctor to come in. That’s my “lab”. There’s no windows and it’s tiny. I have no room to work. It’s in the very back of the building away from the rest of the office, so I am often left out of mingle and chit chat. I’m also the last to know that there’s office catering because people forget I work back there. Only one wall outlet… so all day long, I have to reach under a table to plug/unplug all my lab equipment. And that’s after I was given a power strip. I’ve blown the…

How do I go about filing a lawsuit against a company for not providing mandatory breaks?

For context, I live in New York State, and as such, I’ve read that breaks are considered mandatory by law after working six or more consecutive hours. My company, however (a gas station chain that I will refrain from mentioning) claims that there is a fine print in our contract that forces us to waive these breaks upon hiring (we regularly work 8+ hours). I do believe this clause only applies to other states, but I am uncertain. Now, I suspected for a while this was total nonsense, but I was young and desperate for money. My coworker just recently mentioned that other stores in the area (both from the same chain) have either optional or paid breaks. We are not 24/7 and typically only have two people working at a time, with only one in the early morning and one late at night. I’ve been with the company for…

I got written for calling a a**hole a a**hole

Let me explain and I apologize for the very long post. I work for a very large retail chain that is know all throughout the world and I have been there for 4 1/2 years and I always have had a perfect record so to speak. I am always on time, I come in when called in, I pulled 16 hours shift, I do as ask and then some. I am essentially a golden employee but with some flaws as I am only human. I only got the job because I needed something as I was looking for work in my job field (personal support worker or PSW for short) but at the time the field was extremely competitive and since I live in a small town and couldn't drive my options where limited and unfortunately moving was and still is not a option. So this store hired a jerk…

Odd Situation

I normally don’t post on here, but I was recently employed by a company about a month ago. When they were doing the initial presentation, they specifically said unionization was not allowed at this workplace. While I don’t personally have an issue with this and wasn’t planning on joining a union regardless, (I’m just a team member) I thought it was very odd that they would not allow unionization. I have only had positive experiences with this employer, they have been flexible with my schedule, don’t over work me, don’t really ask me to do anything crazy, but the fact that they don’t allow unionization is so odd and a little concerning. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

Work trying to pressure me to pick up another shift

My work has been pressuring me to start working Fridays. Thing is I already work Fridays at a second job. They seem to be under the impression that i told them i would be available to work Fridays which i know i did not. At my other job i make $35 an hour. This one I make $21. No way in hell am i dropping that shift to work somewhere else and get paid less. Is there a way i can tell them that without coming off rude? Also; i’m worried they might let me go over it. I don’t feel like they would since they spent about a grand on me getting me trained. Doesn’t seem like a smart business decision. I have anxiety issues so i’m feeling anxious as hell about the whole situation.

The idea of making payments for a product you never gain any % ownership of is absurd. Especially for years or decades. Yet rent is this same absurdity normalized.
