Secure my workers rights and pay
I manage a franchise pizza place. My parent company has been failing to pay some of our employees. My co-manager/brother has been incontact with the PC trying to ensure our workers are paid. It's been difficult. Can anyone help of who we need to speak to about their failures? I know this is not entirely anti work post but I'm searching for help.
18F. I work at a spa where I mostly clean. I've hated every single job I've done so much that I sometimes feel I'd rather die than continue working like this. My manager has a “””flexible schedule””” which basically means she expects you to be on call far beyond your boundaries, doesn't matter if you had a meeting planned at 4, she'll make you work till 5.30. She constantly comments on things to make me insecure about myself and refuses to use my chosen name. She's shifty about wages and pays significantly less than my other employers. Today i was doing dishes and her husband commented “sexy gloves” right in front of her which is just… weird? i don't know if it's sexual harassment, but I imagine just makes her even more hell-bent on proving superiority over me. The only reason i'm doing these jobs is that i don't have…
Recently I have had some tooth pain that's gotten so bad I had to take some time off work. Technically most of that time was apart of my already scheduled time off so I've only had to call in sick one day. My boss is aware of everything and has helped to make accommodations for me like a good boss should which I thought was nice. So I was finally able to get to my scheduled appointment at the dentist where they took x-rays but couldn't do anything right away so that meant I was going to need to take another day off totalling two whole days off of work. A lot, I know. Anyways, I told my boss I would need more time to get my tooth fixed before I could go back to work and she questioned me to see if I was taking medicine yet and if…
I made certain this was no joke by telling him 2 days before April fool's day. I doubt I will ever find a job better fitted to my particular skill set. It is with great sorrow that I admit the circumstances of life have forced my hand. So this is my /r/antiwork anti-prank. I am very sorry to have leave the only job where I have been properly respected and properly compensated. I gave 18 months notice because I think that is an appropriate amount of time to bring my protégé up to speed.
My boss is starting to show he’s a prick
So today I got recognition at my job. No big deal really it was just a small recognition of a great job in quality assurance blah blah (I work for a call center) Now in our group chat my boss decides to mention me directly and some other girl about how well we did with the QA. Ok, thanks. The group vibe is never serious everyone complains about customers etc etc. so with the mention I come into our chat and post a Michael Jordan mean with his hands up like oh jeez classic meme and then I joked and said “it must be April fools lol jk” about the recognition just joking that I’m not good and it must be a prank. Anyway, my manager decides to text back about how he never jokes (lie) around this time because it’s been 11 yrs since his mom died. And I…
Landlordism ≠ Ending ‘Work’
Kia ora koutou, Just wanted to write a little piece about the post that was removed earlier. It received, in my mind, a concerning amount of traction (last count it had 15,000 upvotes). Hope this post helps explain my, and many other leftists, point of view. The premise of this sub is: “for those who want to end work, are curious about ending work, want to get the most out of a work-free life, want more information on anti-work ideas and want personal help with their own jobs/work-related struggles.” I think there may be a bit confusion around what 'work' is in this group. In my mind, work ≠ labour. Personally, I love work. Researching stuff around this is 'work' to me. Work ought to be creative, fun, and explorative. What we have to do in this current mode of production, is labour. Specifically, we provide labour power for the…
