Landlords are evil because landlord is an economic and social relation defined by laws which require or encourage an extreme power imbalance predicated on exploitation.

That's it. It's not some moral assessment on people who ask for help paying the mortgage so much as that arrangement is encouraged to be put into rental agreements for understandable reasons. However the laws governing those rental agreements set the expectation for a very exploitative relationship. Ex. “you don't wanna pay for someone else's mortgage” is not a saying for no reason. It's very immoral to have someone paying for your future housing security often for years and years only for them to be shit out of luck for their future housing. It wouldn't be much trouble to change housing rights laws so that everyone is always guaranteed good retirement housing or housing if disabled or just guaranteed housing (the only moral option tbh) but NOPE the law in the U.S. where I live was written by a small class of capitalist who really love to exploit working people…

Found out today that I was the only person at my small company to not receive a COL increase.

As the title states, I just found out I was the only person in my small company to not be given a 5% cost of living increase. I’m privy to this info as a company admin and came across it while trying to administer benefits in our payroll software. There was one other employee that didn’t get the COL increase but instead received a 10% salary increase. My original thought was maybe I got skipped due to a decent pay increase I received last September, but nope. The other person they skipped the COL increase in lieu of a bump in overall salary also got the same pay raise as me but theirs was in Nov – two months after mine! Although I truly enjoy working with my direct boss, I had already been contemplating leaving due to an insane increase in my responsibilities and workload. I’m now doing not…

This is some bullshit.

I have been spending a lot of time with a very wonderful woman I recently met. She has literally made my life feel worth living again. But that's not really what this post is about. It's about a much more frustrating thing. I learned she makes right around the federal minimum wage, at her place of employment. I learned that she drives approximately 50 miles, round trip, for every shift there. (We're in a rural area, driving is just a reality of life as an adult.) What. The. Fuck. I want to scream at the CEO of the corporation (which is publicly traded, not a 'mom and pop' shop, by any means), How dare you rob this wonderful person of her time on this planet for what is functionally goddamn nothing?!? What is wrong with the USA? This shouldn't be legal. FUCK that corporation, and fuck the CEO and anyone…

Company grossed $4.7 billion in profit last year. I got $0.62/hr for my raise.

Thats not even 3% because they changed how they calculate our raises. We no longer get our raise on our overall pay, they changed that this year. Now they subtract our shift differential and then give us a raise based off that. For example: I made 21.85 including shift differential. They subtract the shift differential 21.85-1.25=20.60 Then they give us our raise based off that. 20.60 x 0.03 = .62 They did this to save pennies. Because 21.85 x 0.03 = .6555 or roughly $0.04 This shit is dumb as fuck. Doesnt even count inflation in. Literally another billion dollar company penny pinching. I hate this system Update: Found out the building wants a maximum average of 2% increase. A friend here got $.21

Fair Pay Act failed to pass US Senate vote (39-61) – Bill would have paid overtime to salaried employees working more than 40 hours per week and offered retroactive overtime pay for 2022 period. Sign petition to have it re-submitted for vote.
