My probation was due last week, but my boss is now on medical leave for a burnout. Her boss decided that they will extend my probation til she'a back, which could be months from now, if ever (personnally, if I was my boss, I will not come back there).
using 2 gallons of gas a day to drive into the office. And for what? So they can keep an eye on me. I don't have to interact with anyone and don't have meetings. I just do my work on computer and communicate through email and a maybe a phone call. Thankfully they do allow a couple days wfh but the days I go in are soul killing.
Shouldn’t my boss be teaching me this?
So I work at a fairly large nonprofit in department that helps people get job. This department is broken up into a division that works eith high school students teaching them job skills and get their first work experience (my job) and a division that helps adults get jobs. When I got this position, I was fairly honest about the fact that I have teaching experience but no job development experience. So then it came time to start setting up my kids with jobs, and my boss (who over sees the high school side) just kind of expected me to figure out how to do that on my own. When I pointed out that I have no idea what I'm doing and I can't do a job that I wasn't trained to do, my boss got really mad and accused me of lying about my experience when I got the…

Some context: I am definitely the “we should form a union” sort of troublemaker at work. I have very little skin in the game because I’m part time, so it has made it easy for me to stand up for my coworkers to management. With that said, the place is falling apart. Holes in the roof leaking into the classrooms (it’s a preschool) when it rains, the break room door handle literally came off in my hand the other day, there’s dying smoke alarms near the kitchen that management just takes the batteries out of. There’s also rampant racism and nepotism with how management structures the schedules and classrooms. The women of color all take on the most challenging classrooms and frequently have their breaks cut short so the white women can have their scheduled breaks (I’m white if it makes a difference, I just don’t get breaks because I’m…
Im a nurse at a single nursing site. Yeah it sucks she is from the Philippines and misses her family she had been worked into the ground and raked over the coals with mistakes she has made while tired. Her family bought her a ticket and she just left. Typically as a nurse you can be compelled to stay against your license due to an “abandoning your charge” clause in single nurse sites that require 24 hour nursing care. Typically if someone calls in and no one can cover the previous nurse is held there until relief can be found. I offered to cover the shifts at triple rate (more than what agencies cost) and since management can't compel a nurse to stay if someone offered to take the shifts. Here I am making triple rate. I'm glad she went to Phillipines and I am glad she is doing some…
