Feels like I’ve been cheated as I’ve been doing 65 hour weeks on average, working my arse off to try and dig myself out of financial doom. 85 hours of work and for what? Feeling fed up with all this. I work extremely hard and to see so much of my efforts be taken from me is soul crushing while big business is getting away with legal thievery
Less money for a good job
Just got my review and it was stellar. The raise for this was way below the increase in the cost of living, so it essentially up to be a pay reduction because of inflation for a great job. Heck, it doesn’t even cover my increase in rent this year. No COL adjustment seems to be coming. Just about to find out if there is a bump in benefit costs, but I am expecting there will be. I should be insulted and pissed right? Am I being greedy right now? What should I do moving forward?
Everyone else (about 45 other people) do hybrid WFH/come into the office. 3 days remote, 2 days in office. I sit in my office all day and for the majority of my time do nothing, and the rest of the time I sit on zoom meetings where most people are at home. On the days when people are in the office everyone sits in their personal offices with the doors closed. When I was hired I was told I would be coming into the office everyday, and I thought that was fine because I was under the assumption everyone else was in the office everyday too. Not to mention I work at a large facility where I have to park in a parking lot that’s outside of the facility and take a commuter bus to the facility. I waste an hour of my day just by doing this. How do…
How much should I ask for.
I’ll try to keep it short. Work hvac/general maintenance at a large industrial plant….plant gets bought by new company, they make drastic changes….biggest being getting rid of the security/monitoring and giving all their duty’s to the maintenance workers…..we have about 20 people….4 have already quit including our lead technician….3 more I know are one foot out the door waiting on new job confirmation. I’m gonna stick around just to watch the place burn….(we were given the monitoring of the plant wide sprinkler system with no training so that could be quite literal) but basically I make 21/hour and I’m obviously asking for more money, where should I start? I think I’m gonna start at 32, lowest I’ll go is 28 or ️
Employer Severance Pay
An employer hands out severance pay agreements. They state that these agreements are confidential and must not be discussed amongst each other. Is this in violation of the National Labor Relations Act?
Workers from outside the US.
My place of employment has brought a team of 25 or so people from Mexico (we have a couple of sites in Mexico) to work on temporary visas for 6 months. They are being paid their typical wage in pesos, housing is covered, transportation is covered, and they are feeding them. They will do anything to save a buck.
