I’m one of TWO techs in this company who is willing to/work(ing) in our oldest plant.

My predecessor worked here 12 years, three different companies. I’ve been here under two. In that time he has left the building for our main complex with the rest of our team 30 minutes away (our GM is a controlling maniac). I have thus been thrown into an assload of paperwork (my previous position has ZERO), all of his responsibilities and monthly checks, and was left here in a 400,000 square foot building for five months before they found a guy(my buddy from production) to actually join our team. Our company is not at all competitive in wages locally. I have received ZERO in compensation, titles, or benefits. They will not make me a “lead” for my title and have even tried lying about what my predecessor made to keep me quiet. I wasn’t dumb and found out before he left. My bosses have been okay, they never come to…

job wants me to spend a bunch of $ to come back from sick day…

Tldr at bottom My employer that I recently started working for doesn't do “sick days”. Basically you work and if you're sick you call in and won't be paid for that day. However, if you are sick for more than one day, they want you to get a release from a doctor before your allowed to come back to work. Now I travel all over the country. I don't have a primary care doctor because I spend a couple months here, couple months there, blah blah. But I also rarely get sick. Maybe once or 2 times a year. Well, I had a stomach bug knock me down and missed 2 “optional” days and today. The “” are because you CAN say no, but only if you're from the area and have plans. Anyways, the office tells me since I've missed more than one day, I need to be cleared…

Totally insulting Job Offer

Not sure if this is the right sub to post in but I will take a shot. Appreciate any help or advice from someone who has maybe gone through something similar. I am looking to leave my 9-5 for many reasons but mostly my super negative, control freak boss (a story for another day). I have been applying and applying to other jobs and have received very few interviews. I finally found one in another state looking for experience of basically exactly what I do now. My jaw dropped when reading the job posting; that’s how sure I was that I was a great fit. I applied and received a call not even 2 days later asking me for an interview. I interviewed and I thought it went well. The next day the recruiter emailed me asking my salary requirements so I informed him that I was looking for something…

Something I wrote to convince a friend we should try and start our own company on our terms. It turned out darker than I hoped for.

I’ve decided that I want freedom. I spent a lot of time teaching myself and exploring so that I would be able to give myself things that I couldn’t have, couldn’t afford. Before, when all was simpler and all I had was time, and maybe some energy. All I wanted was to be able to buy stuff. Now, a lot of effort into the future, I do have a bit of change in the bank and a couple of outdated game consoles. But I want more. I want to own my own life and my own time. I want to decide when I go to sleep and when I wake up. When I shut up and when I say fuck you. It is truly exhausting that I have to hold my tongue, that I have to stand and take it to the chin, that I have to behave a certain…

Can my employer change me from hourly to salary without notifying me?

I found out this morning that the operations manager at my workplace told my coworker in my department that she was changing my pay from hourly to salary. I was not notified from management about this change. Is this legal? I work in Maryland, PG County.

I feel like this place is stealing my wages. or is just extremely disorganized

So I started this job 2 months ago, I was supposed to be part time but they've called me in on off days so I've actually clocked in over 40 hours the last few weeks because they are so shortstaffed. The thing is, I still don't have a card or number to punch in so I have to do punch edits on a piece of paper after each shift. These are locked away in the supervisors office and sometimes there is no supervisor to fill one out with me. What happened was I got called in to work 10 hours Thursday and 10 Friday then my regular Saturday and Sunday 12s ( which have turned into 13 to 14 hours instead). Thursday and Friday there was no boss there so I filled out the form for Saturday and Sunday when she showed up and I let the boss know I…

Gee, have you tried actually paying your workers instead of tossing them scraps? Maine’s economy IS tourism, don’t tell me you’re not making money!
