Pretty Frustrated and Depressed
Tldr; Boss is having a tough time finding employees, coworkers are paying the price. So this is going to be a rant post. I work in a retail / service setting and have been around for a while. At this current time we need staff more than anything else. Nearby businesses are all paying just as much or more for entry level positions that require no skillset ( food, gas, retail, etc ). Due to this, we basically get no applicants whatsoever, and when we do people usually don't take the position or are only looking for very very few hours. This has a negative effect on our staff who are there, its demoralizing. It feels like there is no light at the end of the tunnel and honestly I'm just getting burnt out / desensitized to all of it. Thankfully I'm in a position where I'm not being forced…
Should probationary periods be illegal?
Asking for myself.- A lot of people are depressed or miserable in some way but they find the strength to go to work every day.- Other people run into mental/physical issues and within a couple months they have to quit their job. I fall into the latter category. I never liked working but I was able to tolerate it reasonably well in, mostly in short bursts like summer jobs. Hated it but it was alright, most of the time. Of course, with hindsight I know that the reason I had very little resilience to long term hard work, is a complex multifactorial thing that involved poor self-actualization from lack of sexual gratification, meaningful hobbies, and bad helicopter parenting. And of…
Is my Employer screwing me over?
Hey everyone, sorry im more of a lurker so hopefully i dont make too many mistakes posting. In in Australia and this current employer I applied for has made me do a 9am to 3pm meeting about their policies and what the company stands for. They also require roughly 10-15 hours of compulsery online training for fire safety and proper conduct that they provide. I know meed to do a final 3 hour medication training that they say isnt certificated and can only be used at their company. So my question for everyone. Am I being screwed? They told me we werent being paid for any of our time spent training, my only reasoning being they literally cant afford it with how much they make you do. My last ckmpany paid for the pre-employment orientsion which lasted half the time of their meeting. I understamd trainees exist but i finish…
