I can only get a 10 minute break if i smoke and they refuse otherwise. What can I do?
I own a 3 BR and have an extra bedroom that I don't really use. I can use it to build out into a gaming room, home theater room, home gym but live a somewhat minimalist life. I know sentiment on here is pretty negative regarding landlords and how they essentially extract wealth from another's labor. But places in my area rent for over $1k/month, and my mortgage is less than that and it's made me consider making it an option. However, I like my privacy and a quiet environment is important in both my work and personal life so that comes with a price to be willing to compromise on. With that in mind, what's this subs thoughts on the idea of potentially renting the room to someone who needs it?
Everyday feels the same as the last Waking up at the crack of dawn for Another day you're just throwin' away For a thankless task that you barely get paid for. Look in the mirror at your reflection It's no longer a face you'd want to know Skin worn thin and lines all over Your Eyes haunted and cast down The Light is banished from your soul Is this where everybody goes? When they finally start to realize The American dream is a big fat lie. One told to keep us working To the point of exhaustion and death One more small cog that's turning In a cold machine that always burning And like any small part They won't let you forget You are completely replaceable This is their mindset though it is terrible So when you're half way done with A life that you've hurriedly rushed You start to…

Is free housing a right?
For who? The homeless? The working class? Minimum wage folks? If someone makes what is traditionally a decent wage but it does not support them any longer should they have that right? Who should decide that?
BYOD – where do you guys draw the line
Used to work at a company that gave us a cell phone for all business related activity – emails and calls. Now I'm at a company that … might do this? I'm just not sure because everyone around me in the org just uses their personal phones. I'm curious where all you guys draw the line? I'm thinking I'll add my company email on my personal cell phone but I'm not going to put the # in my email signature or give it out. That's where I draw the line. If they want me to do company related calls, I want a separate company phone.

Burn out is rearing it’s head
My department announced a financial incentive program for the next few months. Usually, this would give me some motivation, but all I feel right now is resentment knowing that this is code for 'go faster.' Excuse me, but my brain fog ate my laptop.
Currently working at a shithole that’s just got bought out by some even worse people. Anyone have any details about L3? Interviewing in PA but all stories are welcome.
