Career path means . . .

A career path means it takes a long time to promote you to the next level, and there are always a lot of levels, so you can work your whole life and probably never get to the top—you are working and they are collecting part of your money, forever. Just work harder and get to the next level! Nice path.

This week I realized, or rather I admitted something I realized way back when I was a teenager.

I hate what I do, I hate expectations, I hate having to perform, I hate having to justify every little thing I do, I hate having to micromanage my subordinates and my peers, I hate pretending I'm in charge when I'm just another cog in the machine, I hate that everything has to be calculated, I hate having to pretend to be someone I'm not to fit big brother's idea of a good worker, I hate doing meaningless stuff just to keep a roof over my head and satisfy family/relatives' idea of a well accomplished individual, I hate how everything around me pushes me to desire more stuff, more shit to do, more shit to buy, more shit to keep my dopamine-deprived brain busy and away from remembering how fucking miserable I am. At this point I just want to open a small grocery store in a middle-of-nowhere tiny-ass village…

Mother wants me to call my old employer’s HR. I think it’s a but pointless.

So my mother works a job selling stuff that gets various clients. However, her most recent client was apparently the head of HR from the last employer that fired me after 3 write ups over a year ago. She told the woman about my situation (firing for having 3 write ups within a specific timespan, unemployment giving me issues, etc), and she told my mom “write-ups only last 90 days before they drop off” and also told her I should apply again despite getting fired during covid work from home? Which, I was told write-ups last 6-9 months, because of state requirements due to that department being a middle man for a state waiver. So I have a feeling the HR woman is speaking for the majority of the company, not the entirety of it. In total I only ever had 4 write ups at that job, and the one…

is Mcdonalds still paying it’s Ukrainian employees?

I was under the impression McDonalds is still paying its Russian store employees during the current war, but did McDonald's not have restaurants in Ukraine with employees that can no longer work? Is McDonald's still paying them?

Gotta love the dream

My 14 year old son has taken it upon himself to want to go out and look for work so he can start saving up for some extras he wants. But mainly so he can start saving for a car. No where is hiring anyone younger than 16 in the town we live in. But it's the conclusion he came to that makes me both sad and frustrated with the world that we live in “So if no one is willing to hire me…how am I supposed to do what everyone has told me I should be doing and save up for a car when I'm 16?” Just one of the VERY many YOU DON'T situations we are faced with in today's world.

Written up for using time off.

At my job at the beginning of the year we are given 5 sick days, 1 “wellness day” and we also have the ability to earn 80 hours of pto. I basically work in the middle of nowhere in illinois and live 40 min away in another city. 3 times this year we had massive snow storms to the point where they closed the highway that my place of work sits off of, and my place of work issued a statement that people who live out of town should use time off and not come in for safty reasons. That part is great! Here is where i get annoyed… at that time i had not built up much pto and what i had built up i had already used, so i used 3 of my 5 sick days due to weather (road closures, literally could not get to work). Then…
