Anti this job so that I can have time to be antiwork again?

Hello all! I realize this is supposed to be anti-work, but I'm in real predicament with my current job. This job was a post covid job loss grab-whatever-I-could-get-with-a-decent-salary kind of thing. And while I thought this was temporary because I have loads of experience, we haven't recovered and I've had to stick. My job is absolutely working me to the bone, I'm talking 70 hour work weeks, nights, weekends. I'm salary and an ungodly amount of students rely on me – so while I'd love to fuck over the company, I would mostly be hurting them. They know this and exploit good people in tough situations – HR and management have been absolutely sinister. I've kept documentation, and despite having over a decade of great experience for decent companies (never leave a union job for the love of god), have not been able to find another job WHILE working for…

I suddenly hate my job

After being prepped for a promotion for the past 7 months and then being fucked around i finally got sent the job description – which was different to what was preagreed. ok – not a huge deal, i can make it work, job accepted 3 weeks ago. The job so far is complete horse shit, but thats a story for another day. Receive my pay check and i dont appear to have been paid my increase so i query this with HR. 10 minutes later im sent a message from my line manager saying i wont get my increase for another month and thats just tough shit that i didnt clarify the increase would start when the new job started. Best brush up that CV or figure out how to live a self sufficient mud hut lifestyle.

Got yelled at for following rules

Don't want to go on a long rant but… (insert long rant) Basically, whoever is the manager for the day posts a daily schedule saying when people are supposed to go on breaks, that way we don't have too many people gone at once, and being further short staffed at parts of the day. So like normal, they posted the daily schedule, I saw my break time, no problem with that. Now here's where the problems begin. The person who was scheduled to go before me did go before me…well before their actual break time. So that already was annoying. Then, when my break time came up, they still didn't come back. I was mad at that so I just left to go on my break at my scheduled time anyways. The manager saw me going, and without hesitation started yelling at me “WHERE ARE YOU GOING? IS __ BACK…

Can I record a work meeting without consent (CT, USA)?

(For reference I live and work in Connecticut) I asked my HR lady (who's also a co-owner/boss's wife) via email to have a meeting with her, my boss (her husband), and all of my coworkers to discuss whether or not my coworkers and I can begin to file mileage claims for our commutes to job sites (we work in a field that requires us to drive around the state). I cc'd my boss and all of my coworkers since this meeting would require everyone to be in attendance. She replied that she would discuss it with me individually and would discuss it with anyone else interested in an individual basis. Clearly she can tell that my coworkers and I are talking to each other about the issue so I guess she would want to have individual talks to try and strong arm us all to our minimums. I'm going to…

How are companies able to post lies for job positions?

Out of frustration and genuine curiosity, how is that companies are able to post false salaries and hours for their jobs? I've encountered a handful that disclose towards the end of an interview process, “oh you'll actually be doing none of the job descriptions we posted, it's actually part-time and you don't get paid the posted amount.”

Isn’t this illegal?

Basically beside my university studies, I'm currently working as a call center agent (service Desk). So basically my company does what I'd call 'IT HelpDesk Outsourcing' because 'our' clients aren't from the country where this company is located. So anyway, I was told I have to: Take calls within 30 seconds Respond to incoming chat requests within 6 seconds Even if I'm currently already working on a ticket or am literally on the phone (SoftwarePhone) with a given client and trying to troubleshoot their issues, I have to respond to incoming chat requests within 6 sec I haven't yet asked my supervisor(s) as to how tf it's rational to expect this massive workload from an employee, especially when he's already working with someone on the phone… I don't think this is rational, but isn't something like this illegal too? So say someone gets fired because he couldn't handle 3-4 task-intensive…
