Great show, if you haven’t seen it. Effectively imagine a separation in memory between your work and personal selves. For me it’s less for the fact that I want to disconnect from a troubled personal reality as much as it is that I want to disconnect my brain from the stresses of work so that I can enjoy a wonderful personal life. My job sometimes causes such mental load that I am finding it harder and harder to separate my mind from my job when it comes to spending time outside of work. This has become distressing when I find myself sitting down to a lovely dinner with my wonderful family and my mind can’t separate from work. I don’t need advice to meditate, etc. etc. I’m just wondering how much others feel this way. Work — no matter the level or industry — seems to be sapping either our…
has anyone else experienced this? it’s happened to me and one close friend. it’s frustrating AF. i get that in theory this is great, but my friend later found out that ppl w the same title and similar start date make so much than her. there’s no transparency in this. it really feels like employers are using DEI as an excuse to underpay their staff. at my old place, same shit. two years after my start date and not a single pay raise, they adjusted my salary by 3k bc they realized, having undertaken new DEI strategies, that i was underpaid all along compared to my peers. at the time, they wouldn’t let me negotiate bc of DEI, and i knew their offer was way too low smfh. i was grateful for the bump, but i knew i was still underpaid. it’s ridiculous to use DEI to hurt your employees.…

This is a rant.
I am sick of working fast. I work in the systems department at a company. You know how when everything is working, no one bugs you, but when something is wrong, they are telling you to fix it as fast as possible. I have about 4 years of experience and I can solve majority of the problems way quicker than other people. This is good becuase my users can be happy but bad becuase everyone thinks I don't do shit. I could take longer solving problems, but workers would be mad I take long, so I finish things quickly and get called overpaid for doing nothing, what the fuck do people want from me???? This morning I fixed 5 problems in about 3 hours. This would have taken someone else at least 8. There's one programming problem that's taken me a week and I finally came up with a solution,…
Need some help.
So I finally stood up for myself. However I got written up for insubordination. So what happened: Today a resident had an appointment in a town ~60 miles away. We've had winter road conditions with blowing snow, slick roads and high winds. I'm not comfortable driving in snow. I get anxiety attacks when in these high stress situations. (I'm on 3 different anxiety medications for reference). So I refused to take the resident to the appointment. This resulted in a write up for insubordination. I'm calling my doctor to see if she can write something up for my anxiety diagnosis. I also took screenshots of the road report at the time we would have left. but is there anything else I can do before I talk to HR?
back in february i accepted a new part time wfh position that would eventually turn full time. i gave my notice to my job but offered to stay as a “contracter” and only come in 3 days a week. they agreed to this, but have yet to pay me the PTO they owe me from being a full time employee. it’s been over a month since i switched to contract work and they have not hired my replacement. as my wfh job comes with more responsibilities, i find my time at this physical fucking office less and less important as i sit here filing papers from two years ago. last week i was helping a family member out dog sitting and my office job gave me a hard time about missing days and essentially forced me to come in today (a wednesday, not a day i work in the office)…
People need to remember this
I saw think on linkin and everyone should know this Dr Rochelle Parks-Yancy Professor of Human Resources; Resume Writer-Slayer; Career Coach; Books' Author; Workshop Leader; Website Content Creator/Editor; I Am MY #1 Brand 3h Product/service brand loyalty: Customers are loyal to a brand and actively want to buy their products. Think Apple diehards vs. Samsung diehards. Or Pepsi loyalists vs. Coke loyalists. Employment brand loyalty: Old school, short-sighted, and a myth. There is no good reason to give your loyalty to any company that you don't own. Even if you like your job, if you like the people with whom you work, that doesn't equate to loyalty (or it shouldn't) to the job nor employer. Firms are not loyal to you. That's not their job. Their job is to be loyal to their business interests. Your job is be loyal to your business interests (YOU). A job is not a…
