Earlier this week I interviewed and later got the job to work at a gravel & sand supplier. I would basically be driving dozer and 30 ton trucks to pick up and drop off materials at the site. It pays $14 hr and time and a half after 40 hrs. The schedule is 10 hr days Mon-Fri. During the interview I asked about licenses and certificates for the machinery and was told I wouldn't need them because it's off road. I would have a 90 day evaluation and then at my year evaluation I could get a raise and at minimum it's .25 Today I went to a interview at a pest control company. The Indeed page said $15 but during the interview I found out you start at $13 then after a week you test for your License then you get bumped to $14, couple months later you take…

I’ve been going back and forth with this idea for months now. I started a new job in august after working for the same organisation since I left school. I thought the change would be good for me and push me in a new direction to start a career but it has done the complete opposite. It has completely ruined my mental health to the point where I’m now on antidepressants after rejecting them from my doctor and therapist for 6 years. It did however push me to finally apply and get accepted to start college. I was always scared of going to college for money reasons after I got used to a regular income for so long but I’ve decided just to go for it now and I start in august. I don’t think I can keep pushing on with my job until then though so I’m considering just…
Today was truly the day I was reminded why I shouldn’t be in good service for a career and why now is a good time to start looking for a new job. I work for xxxx restaurant in Texas. I won’t name the restaurant because there aren’t serious inherent problems with it, management or anything like that. This is a tale of American entitlement. Now as a server in the “great” state of Texas, people are a totally mixed bag. You’ve got a wide range of people who are near perfect customers, very friendly, relatively easy to take care of, etc. I had such a couple the other day. Then on the opposite end you have major dickheads and assholes who I simply want to stop bringing anything and say “get your food somewhere else, you entitled piece of shit”. This is obviously about these such people. I get into…
Rescinded offer, wtf.
I was offered a position on Wednesday March 16 at approximately 3:15pm CST. I accepted at about 3:20pm, all via email and was called for the start date. I have all the emails saved. Thursday 3/17, I took the fam out to eat, planned savings, paid bills, and paid off some EXTRA debt, since I was going to have more income coming in as my start date was April 11. Now keep in mind the debt didn’t have to be paid off but I did it since I’d have income coming in. Today Friday 3/18 at 8 am I receive an email saying… and I quote (copied from the email, only thing changed was I removed the title of the position): “I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we have to rescind the offer of employment for the (position). Due to some internal policies made by our…
My employer deducted my vacation time
my employer recently noticed that I was accruing too much vacation time per pay period. The system they used went off my original hire date but it was supposed to be from the day I started full time. This meant I went from getting 5.5 hours each pay period to 3.3 each pay period. I understand that it was a mistake and from here on out it would be different until I hit 3 years from my promotion. The problem I have is with that change they eliminated my banked hours I went from having 62 hours available to now only 16 hours. My coworker was also promoted on the same day and she went all the way from 180 hours down to -8 in her bank. This is after I told my boss about my wedding and ensuing honeymoon which I now don’t have enough time for anymore. I’m…
