Employers: Get right or get left
For context, I work as a bartender in a busy bar in NYC. We’ve has loads of staff turnover the last couple of months because people found better jobs, or didn’t like working in a bar, or just my boss being a bit of a control freak. So obviously we have periods where we’re a bit understaffed but we’ve kind of gotten used to it. So I haven’t had time off for ages because of the staffing shortages and I asked for time off for my nieces birthday and my boss straight up said no saying we’re short staffed and that I’ll have to miss her birthday. I said that isn’t fair as I’ve been helping been out to cover shifts since I started here. Boss said he doesn’t care. I faked a positive covid test so I could go to my niece’s birthday and have applied to 100 jobs…
Figure this fits. Will never understand how ppl complain about others on government assistance. It’s quite difficult to navigate.
Being Forced Back into Office
My boss is coming from overseas (to the US, where I am located) and is constantly bringing up going into the office and how once we enter a new phase of Covid planning how we can all go into the office. What should I say as someone who has been working for the company for over a year, has never once been to the office and has no intentions of ever going more than once?
Always speak last in meetings…
Anyways, I work at this smallish agency. Once a week we have a team meeting that is mostly women. I'm usually the only guy out of 2. I always feel like we get to speak last in our meeting. I want to bring this up without being looked at as sexist. Does anyone have any thoughts on this, I greatly appreciate any opinion regardless of gender.
