Has a co worker ever told you “work smarter not harder “ and then proceed to make your job alot harder while also basically doing nothing themselves or just pushing their workload onto you
I work in sales. I get salary and bonus and completely work myself to death to not be terminated. When I’m off work all I think about is my job. When we got forced full time work at home, they didn’t supply us desks or chairs or even pay for a fraction of our internet. We got treated like it was a privilege to still have a job. Our bonus got cut in half this last year and this year as things get more and more expensive a lot of us we’re ready for my company to start making moves to prove we’re valuable to them. I score nearly perfect on my annual review. 11/12. Apparently no one gets a 12. I was so ready for a 6-7% NEEDED cost of living increase. I got a 3% raise. Not even enough of a raise to even notice after taxes…..
Let go without notice
On Friday I was dropped from my IT job working for a cable construction company without any warning or reason. Even the termination paperwork showed that I was doing an acceptable or good job. What really sucked is that they did so under the pretext of me driving out to the furthest site I was responsible for to help somebody there. Upon arrival, this individual had no idea what I was talking about and I was then alerted to a meeting request from my boss. I immediately responded, as I was apt to do, and upon pulling up the virtual meeting, noticed that the head of IT was present as well. It was then that I was informed that they were “going another way” with the position and they I was to leave the company equipment on site. This included the car I drove in. This left me an hour…
do people really believe this
I was eating lunch at a hotdog stand and the mom next to me was telling her young daughter that someone at her job got fired for working a second job and could even potentially be arrested if he shared company info. She was like “that's a big no no having a second job you should be fully committed to your workplace” to her young daughter. Like way to engrain a slave mentality at a young age, and your employer does not own you in your free time. They are not paying you around the clock and that is the dumbest thing I ever heard saying that you can have someone arrested for working a second job….
The other day, I was called in for an interview by a very enthusiastic G.M. who also sent me a very enthusiastic email the day before that I hadn't read, yet. We agreed to meet and I got there 30 minutes early because I take mass transit and wanted to test the maximum amount of time it would take me to walk to the station, miss my bus, wait the extra 20 minutes for the next bus, and get dropped off in front of my new job. So I'm chatting with tge A.G.M. and a few otger employees to pass tge time when finally the A.G.M. asks if it's okay if he interviews me instead. This is at 20 minutes past my scheduled time. We talk for 30 minutes, hit it off quite well, and he starts asking me about availability, etc. 10 minutes later, an hour late, the G.M.…
I worked for a team that had 2 managers in my time there. They were polar opposites. For reference, the type of work we did was REALLY boring. Manager #1: • Positive, upbeat, fun to be around. She always encouraged us to loosen up and have fun at work • She always had a full plate but offered to help us out if we needed it. If we were swamped she allowed us to move deadlines around because quality was more important than rushing to hit a deadline • During Covid she'd schedule wellness check-in meetings with the team, as well as one-on-one, to see how we were doing and if there was anything she could do to help • We also worked harder than usual during Covid, and she frequently paid for gift cards or gifts out of her own pocket to thank us. It wasn't much, but it…
