So in a pallet building manufacturing, you get paid by the product, mostly it’s 1CAD per pallet, so in a 10 hour shift, I can make about 450 Pallets, which translates to 45$/hr. Which is enormously high if you work in hrly pay
I'm a mid-20s guy stuck doing school photography. During the holiday season, I was told I would have 3 weeks off of work. No biggie. Ended up being 9 weeks without working and I missed 2 months of rent purely because my boss kept lying to me. Used this opportunity to look for new jobs and, as many of you are probably well aware, the current job market sucks. I only found one job that pays more than my current, as well as full benefits (parents are retiring, this is a must), and conveniently I have a friend that works for them. I apply to an opening they have. They then close the opening because they don't “need the job until the summer.” My friend stuck their neck out for me, “Bluecanna really wants this job and needs it now, and if you hire him he can be trained and…
Hi Antiwork, I've been on this sub for months now and have been actively researching Unions and Pro-Employee bills and politicians. And thanks to my research I have now been subject to stupid Anti Union ads! This is ridiculous! Stupid Anti Union propaganda
Met with my manager a few weeks ago, discussed promotion options. She said she would have to see, talk to her boss, HR etc. This happened 12 months ago too and went nowhere. Suddenly every manager around is telling me what big plans they had for me and how I’m making a mistake leaving. I have 3 question for them HOW COME I’M ONLY HEARING THIS AFTER I’VE QUIT? WHY DIDN’T YOU INCLUDE ME IN YOUR SUPPOSED PLANS NOT DO YOU REALISE HOW MUCH YOU NEED ME? . My god, the shift in the balance of power is immense since I quit. They are all asking for meetings and lunches with me ‘to talk’ if I’m not too busy and if that would be ok please. I’m leaving and I’m making it clear.
I got an offer from a similar company in the same industry for a similar complexity role that comes with a substantial pay increase. I hadn't been looking and it's a long story but it sort of fell in my lap unexpectedly. I like the company I'm currently at, although I do have issues with my current manager (inappropriate behavior, condescending and patronizing, she doesn't know how to do her job and tries to make people feel dumb when they ask questions, etc. to the point that HR has been brought in). My partner works at the same company / in the same department, and I've really enjoyed that. I've also developed some great relationships with other people in the department. I haven't been at my current company long at all, but I've been doing really well, learning fast, and received lots of positive feedback, and I do think I'm…
I work in a factory producing cars. Average about 500 cars in 8-10 hours. I'll probably work here 20 years destroying my body, helping drive up kpi bonuses for upper management so they can afford to buy more houses outright to rent out to less fortunate people. I'll make barely enough money to scrape by, but that's my fault. I'll be reminded by these managers of our great pay and benefits, told not to quit because it gets better. It never gets better, it's never going to get better. I'll slave away everyday missing my kids growing up while watching the wealth gap in this country grow. Inflation doesn't even exist for the wealthy, their money literally insulates them from it while I cringe at my grocery bill. Sorry, rant over, just tired of this life 🤦️
