I have a derelict property that would be more valuable without the home that is on it. I recently had a chat with the local fire department and they are jumping at the opportunity to use the property as training of a real house fire. They asked me if I wanted the be who strikes the match. Then it got me thinking… Someone would probably pay a pretty penny to be the one striking that match. Maybe Hollywood or maybe some eccentric millionaire who's repressed their inner arsonist? Now just to figure out how one would go about selling those rights.
So apparently don't expect anyone to help if you get rear-ended on the job as a DoorDasher. The insurance company and Doordash will just point fingers at each other and neither will help. It's great fun
What are your favorite books/essays/articles related anti-work? I'll go first! I'm a big fan of: – “Walden” by Henry David Thoreau – “Living the Good Life” by Helen and Scott Nearing “Living the Good Life” is especially great for their focus on avocational pursuits which enrich their lives and communities. They're not anti-meaningful work, just anti-soul crushing grinds that do no good for the world and prioritize wasteful indulgence.
So I was scheduled to have an interview this morning at 10:00am. As of right now it's 10:42 and still no one has shown. Honestly I don't even know why I'm still waiting in the meeting room but now I'm wondering what's the acceptable amount of time to wait around for a potential employer? https://preview.redd.it/mobb5q1jgkp81.jpg?width=2996&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b28d04a59cbe217aaa824f93a703f736ef0844e7

Need Quick Advice on Quitting via email
My nephew is quitting his job today and asked for my help. He has been at this job for two years as a teacher/manager of an afterschool sports program. He is their best worker and the kids and parents ADORE him – but his boss (i'll call him ASSHAT) thats just over him is an jerk- gaslighting, taking credit for his work, not paying him overtime hours, complete lack of communication. This past week that boss (ASSHAT) got in some trouble with HIS boss (I'll call CLUELESS) and threw my nephew under the bus, claiming all the issues were due to my nephew not doing his job. CLUELESS boss doesnt interact at all my my nephew and is a drinking buddy of ASSHAT. This past week my nephew got blindsided, being called into the CLUELESS'S office, where ASSHAT was sitting, and CLUELESS started attacking my nephew and said that he…
Already quit a year ago
Vague title but I mentally quit my job about a year ago. For context I’ve been working as a clerk in a hospital for about a year and a half now, not bad pay, but very stressful work. I started in an office with about 6 or 7 other people who didn’t really help out with anything. They were all women and I was the only man and the youngest person in the department so for some reason I ended up doing a majority of the work. After about 5 months I was burnt out. Covering shifts constantly, doing about three peoples jobs at once, but the point was to help out patients so that was my only motivation to keep trying. Our boss took it really easy on the rest of the team and let them have a lot of time off for various reasons from minor inconveniences (the…
What started loss of interest in my job
I no longer work at the job I am referring to, my old boss was worth MILLIONS and he has a few small businesses which is impressive and his wife also owns a brand well known. In my state small businesses minimum wage is less than regular minimum wage, my boss employs the manger under the table on salary for full time and was panicking when she got a injury at work, he took her to the doctor and paid out of pocket by saying she was unemployed with no insurance. That aside this under the table manager was getting salary cash handed to her every pay for full time hours, this manager only worked 9-12 every day and never came in on the weekends. That being said he also is getting money by acting like nobody wants to work and he (he always hires on the spot) has taken…
