The title says it, and this obviously isn’t a new narrative. Anyway, let’s get into it; I worked for a baseball team, I won’t say names but it’s fruit related, and the owner exploits his employees / interns SOOOOO BAD. I was the singular full time videographer (shot and edited pretty much everything myself, aside from TikToks & regularly worked 14 hour days during the season and often taking time to finish projects off the clock, at my house) and I was making $32k/annually. Keep in mind I was receiving basically 0 bonuses/bumps if content or merch videos resulted in merch sale spikes or generated large ad revenue. Eventually I started getting like $200 if a video went over 1mil views but I had to fight for that.) The broadcaster, who is the voice of the team and basically the only reason anyone enjoys their game broadcasts, who was also…
How many suffer from low wages?
I was reading that less than 1% of US population makes minimum wage. If enough were suffering, wouldn't Bernie be president? I know we have an injustice in the exploitation of workers, but is it that big of an issue? Sorry if this is offensive, just trying to understand. I made $20 a month working 9am to 6pm, 6 days a week before I came to USA. So I do understand the difficulty.
Today I found out that my company isn't giving raises to anyone on the customer service team for our yearly reviews. This is despite the fact that my service desk lead told me TO MY FACE that a small pay bump I received 3 months ago wouldn't affect my yearly raise. Needless to say I am pissed. And even though this company has mostly been good to me, I know I can take my talents elsewhere (like LeBron James) and get paid more doing it. Rant over.
The past two weeks I’ve been just fucking around (remotely) and if my manager didn’t hate me before, that guy really hates me now. He was calling me up last week like “WE NEED TO GET ALL OF THIS DONE BY FRIDAY!! GRRRR! IM THE MEAN, SCARY MANAGER GUY!” And I was like “Yes! Of course, right away!” And then I just wouldn’t do a goddamn thing. I think yesterday he finally gave up and just “wished me the best of luck” and hasn’t called me because he can clearly see I’m not doing shit. I don’t feel bad though because this is a company that acquired my old company and they haven’t given two fucks about us, half our team quit and they didn’t bother to replace anyone, they just wanted to stack more work on the rest of us with no increased compensation. I pretty much refused to…
Now, less is more!
Sheetz interview
I was sitting in the dining room of a Sheetz today using their WiFi as my car was getting an oil change next door. There was a interview being conducted in the dinning room with customers having their lunch. First off, why? Second, I heard the manager say “I am not a chill person, but I am respectful”. I rolled my eyes and wanted to tell the guy to run. I just don't believe that manager at all. Edit: “I do my best to honor requested time off”
To Celebrate Coming Back Into Office…
We got some Pizza. I'd rather just fucking work from home.
Why is it that when a companies stocks go up the execs get raises/bonuses, but when a companies stocks go down the workers wages have to be cut?
