Need support
I work at a shitty psych hospital and have been having nightmares about my patients and a big increase in anxiety due to understaffing. I'm starting to call off more (for my mental health) and am starting to put applications in for other places. I just want to be reassured that I'm not a piece of shit or lazy for quitting yet another job š
Everyone has their limits ā mine is 8 hours. If I work beyond 8 hours, I get cranky. Over 9 hours, I get irritable and somewhat unbearable to be around. Over 10 hours and onward, I begin seriously contemplating acts of violence, and my overall judgment is impaired. I know, I know, some people work like 12+ hours daily and think 8 hours is cakewalk. Cool. You do you. That aināt me. Not all of us got the same energy levels. Hell, if you DONāT think 8 hours is a lot of time to spend on labor, are you even human? Asking out of concern. I signed up for an income so I can live independently. I did NOT sign up for being worked into utter exhaustion and frustration, and quite frankly, I refuse to do that much just so I can live comfortably.
Anyone else tired of corporations acting like they are progressive but treat and pay workers horribly?
Iāve been working there 2 months now & my boss litrally doesnāt do shit to help run the pub i work in. Plus she lives upstairs so she often goes up for naps & such in the middle of the shifts. She often talks (and laughs) with customers about how she bullied the cleaners into quitting. She is litrally the lazyest person iāve met.
Left waiting for 45 mins
So back in the yesteryear of 2009 I was talking to a girl who worked at Verizon wireless (vzw). I was working with a vendor who called on vzw retail stores and would see her and their managers quite regularly. At one point, she convinced me to submit an application to work for vzw b2b team out of their NYC offices. So we schedule an interview and I get suited up and make my way to work and the interview in the middle of my work day. I walk in, have a chat with the reps as usual, find a manager and let them know I'm here for an interview. She takes me a 2nd level office area where I am greeted and seated and told a manager will be with me shortly. So I'm sitting there in this sterile, empty office for some time, 10-15 mins all by myself.…
My grocery store ranks NUMBER ONE in sales for our Midwest US chain, but corporate is forcing us to reduce hours. People canāt pay rent on shortened hours so they quit. Stop your boomer nonsense that they donāt want to work. We do. Even I am full time, but theyāve cut MY hours, too! Customers are commenting on slipping service. Iāve told them, when they threaten to go elsewhere, āYou need to do whatās right for you.ā But I think now Iām just going to be up front and tell them to complain at the corporate level, because we arenāt being given the time to provide service anymore. Hmmmā¦ I need to keep that phone number handyā¦
When I asked him to clarify why he was cutting my hours he just said that I know why heās cutting my hours and he thinks Iām making employees uncomfortable. My only actions were discussing abysmal wages with employees and his PPP loan which he didnāt need during the pandemic which was a record year for him. I asked him for a written letter explaining why I was being punished to be signed by the both of us. I want documentation.
