Manager tried to lie about me leaving!

So I worked as a florists at a grocery store popular down south called Piggly Wiggly. Now I have zero experience being a florists and both managers knew this when hiring me. But everyday when I came into work there was something I didn't do correctly and “You should know better.” How can I know better when I never been a florists and I hardly been trained enough to do this job. So I had two managers. I had Sallg who was my direct manager she looked after everything in the floral department then there was Miss Ann she was the Manager of the Bakery AND floral, does that make sense no, no it does not. I worked there for 4 months and I really tried my hardest until I realized my hardest was got going to be good enough for them. Every day if I didn't water the plants…

Curious what can be done

There are quite a few jobs in the area paying less than state minimum wage, some even at a factory, and just wondering what I could do? One is a big retail chain too

Don’t be a mechanic.

I'm a young skilled labor, mechanic in my early 20's; I have to work a second job just to keep my head above water. Oh wait, I'm still drowning in medical debt as a result of having to lift heavy shit all the time. Back issues, hernia, and I'm the most stressed I've ever been. Can you imagine almost getting killed or disfigured approximately 2 to 5 times a year as a result of faulty shop equipment or general labor hazards? Did you know that I've never even seen an OSHA official in my entire life? This luxury can be yours for $13/hour. Happy job hunting fellas

Do you have to work extra to earn your leaves?

Hi, obligatory not a native English speaker, so English is probably going to come off extremely formal. I also apologize if this is the wrong sub for this, I just don't know where else to post this. I'm currently in the middle of serving my two-month notice before onboarding to a new company. I'm leaving my old company for a lot of reasons, but the main one being they told me I had ten sick days and ten vacation days when I first accepted the job. However, they failed to inform me then about utilization. Basically, if I wanted to take a vacation day on a Friday – that's 8 working hours – I needed to work 10 hours on Monday, Tuesday, etc. to offset my leave. Otherwise, it's going to take a toll on my utilization. I initially thought this was just about bonuses, like keep it at 97…

I (19 M Denmark) just completed the first 6 months of my career. AMA

It's not uncommon for Denmark to be brought up in discussions about the American system, both as a good and bad example. So I just wanted to clear up any questions about my wonderful, yet flawed homeland, and share my experience as a newcomer to the work scene. I may be pretty vague regarding some questions as to not break rule 8. Ask away!

I’m not useful to capitalism.

I’m not smart enough to study stem. I’m not charismatic enough to do sales. I’m not attractive to model or I’m not an athlete. So if you don’t have those four traits you deserve to live in poverty forever? In the area I’m in there’s no shortage of tradesmen since I was waitlisted. I don’t mean to whine but after failing so many times you get tired of holding it in.

Boy did I chose to leave my job at the right time

After 3 years of bribes to keep me in a job I hate and me being dumb enough to suffer, I got yelled at by a coworker infront of everyone over a stupid rumor started about me. I told my boss everything that happend. And she never even talked to me about the situation. It became a hostile work environment and my boss didn't bat an eye. So I put in my notice, quietly, I didn't tell anyone I was leaving and right after that she put some new policy's in place. This includes no more vacation request over a week and a half. They will be denied instantly. If anyone has to call In that person is responsible for finding someone to cover them, if no one covers, who ever is there just has to stay over until someone comes in (24/7 365 business) In light of that they…

Manager denied my availability change

I’d like to keep this as short as possible. I work retail for many years now and I hate it. I’m mid twenties and I’ve spent a lot of time letting my job(s) destroy my mental health. Recently I decided with my own well being in mind and help from my therapist that I would request specific availability. Well my ‘request’ was denied. My manager spoke to me and said that it couldn’t be accommodated and said if it was for a medical issue, I would need medical documentation and it would need to be sent to HR where they will determine whether or not they will allow it. Keep in mind that I am a part time employee. My request was: No closing shifts, No saturday shifts. I thought this was reasonable, many people have requests similar for schooling and other things that they have no issue accommodating. In…

Complete loss of work motivation

I've been following all the antiwork posts and I'm in slightly different boat….my job has killed my motivation to the point where I can now get away with doing very little…this time last year I was highly motivated but then after a long time getting no recognition whilst others got promotions/payrises…I got nothing…my feedback was excellent so not job performance…and so I was left between a rock and a hard place..do I stay or do I go… Now I'm working…no longer pushing myself…total opposite…and nobody has noticed and feedback just as good….I feel guilty for doing nothing but at same time the company has made me like this and still no payrise or anything I see them give to others I feel burnt out and not energised from it all…it sounds like the dream but its not really…also I wfh and sometimes get out of bed late and take very…
