Hey guys, I'll give a concrete example. Say you are are Puritan capitalist you can A) Create a luxury restaurant producing high quality goods but make a lower profit B) Make a fast food restaurant and reach a higher clientele. It seems Puritans would choose option B.
Boss questions if Im qualified enough.
Typically Im not an “antiwork” complainer but this got to me. Recently I was in a team building situation where the COO of our company heard me say a weakness of mine is always assuming Im not doing enough and Im not good enough. 4 business hours later Im in his office and he asks me “Do you think you are afraid to admit to yourself that you maybe arent the right person to help our company be successful? I've seen some shifts in the company lately and Im just wondering if you think we should get someone with more experiance and more qualified to handle it. Maybe you cant admit that you dont know how to do it.” Through all of this he kept telling me that “this isnt negative, so dont take it that way”. I work in supply chain, the entire globe is having problems.I am the…
I guess the ultimate question is “should I be getting more?” Context: I sit in front of a CNC laser machine all day doing what I feel is very easy, specialized work, very efficiently, and make $18 an hour for it (I've reliably gotten a dollar raise every year for the last five). I get 10 days PTO a year and have a 401k the company matches 3% of my income on even if I don't put in the 3%. And I'm… mostly comfortable. Content even. But am I settling for what I could get, or should I be pushing for more? Does that make sense? I don't even know if the question belongs here, but it seemed like the place to start especially now.
Fed up with inconsistency
This is gonna take some explaining to fully understand the situation but I want to express my full frustration here. I’m a robotics engineer. I work for Company A (relatively small company), which contracts us out to other companies. I was working from home in simulation when Company A’s CEO calls me to inform me that starting the next day I’ll be working for Company B who is being hired by Company C for a job. Fine, whatever, not like I have much of a choice. On this project are six people total from Company A, four of them (including myself) are robotics engineers. There’s enough work for a while at Company B’s prep facility, and some people shift over when production begins at Company C’s plant. A week before a vacation which I have a month’s notice for, Company B asks me to cover second shift at the plant.…
Just as title says..got laid off with no warning and got my last 2 checks today. Me and a few other workers got laid off. I’m guessing we need at least a week notice to look for other jobs but we got nothing. Does this happen regularly? Have been working with the company for almost a year. And it’s also the first time I’ve gotten laid off
Please reddit. Please . I have never needed you more. Today I was chastised for “being negative”. The reason? When asked what I would change about our job in a group chat with the big boss, my answer was “better pay transparency”. I also apparently am not supposed to advocate for my team in meetings. That's also too negative for head boss's fee fees. So please I know this bitch is on LinkedIn I need some ammo. But I don't know where LinkedIn memes come from… weird gen x ers? Bonus points if they are feminist-y.
