no one should be working 40 hours a week
Not sure if many people here have researched the possibilities of joining the service. Yes, their are cons but the pros are quite spectacular in these troubling times. Pros: Job security, VA home loans (no down payment needed), 4 years of paid college, basic housing allowance when married or of certain rank, basic allowance for food, completely free health care. Last year i took home about 48,000 as an e-4 in army a rather low rank. That was take home money my tax return was 9 grand. So for 2021 i took home 57k after taxes. Would like to know some of your thoughts.
I dropped out of school like an idiot, and some other stuff, and have been stuck doing unethical work to pay the bills. Basically, anyone willing to hire me has myriads of ethical issues. It has caused me to be labelled as a job hopper, and it makes it hard to find actual good work, because those places see me as a job hopper. By unethical, I include stuff that causes musculoskeletal disorders which by far and large is a very common consequence of the repetitive nature of work. I have a suspicion that it is to make workers dependent of the healthcare system. It has been experimentally verified that you need rest days between muscular exercise, and yet most employers that give out physically intensive work expect you to work 5 days a week. Jobs could easily be made better by just giving the worker multiple assignments to prevent…
Howdy all! I’m a casual employee in Australia working as a dental hygienist. Being casual I can give 0 notice. My current job has fucked me over so much. They promise me hours and days but then the days fall apart with patients cancelling. I get $40 an hour but they make me clock off if I don’t have a patient. They promise me all the time there will be more patients but my books are dying more and more. This week I only worked 4.5 hours. Well I just had an interview for another job and got the position on the spot. It’s a busy practice with multiple hygienists and still they are fully booked until September already. They want me to start immediately — I’m going in to observe on Friday afternoon and then work on Saturday! The pay is $45 an hour and on Saturdays $55 an…
I'm (20m) working at a warehouse Lidl France 5 days a week 7 hours a day only 20mins break per day, paid only 1400€ after tax per month not counting overtime.. It's been 2 months since I've started as an absolute beginner with no experience in warehouse work at all since they recruted me through the government employment agency made for desperate teens/kids like me which is pretty predatory imo since I was put in a situation where I couldn't really say no to the job. So I basically learned everything solo and adapted quickly while on the fly since nobody was available to train me, I work in a refigerated sector for meat/fish so it's pretty cold and have to wear a thick jacket that limits my movement and since I've started till now my pickrate has steadily increased from 600 to 1200 per day, but my manager doesn't…
I remember my very first job at Rite Aid. I cant remember if I was asked “how much I would like to be paid”, or “what do you think your worth?” Either way, as I was saying this I felt a weird ammount of anger come over me. It feels criminal to ask an underage kid how much they think their worth or deserve to be paid. I had no comprehension of what my value was, and I didn't know how much the average pay range was. I think in the end for my rite aid position, I had asked for something like 11? And then they told me they were unionized and I recieved a starting pay of 10.50? That or it was 12, and 11.50. Either way. I feel like, even as kids graduate highschool and go into college, they will be entering the workforce at a starting…
