I work at a university, multiple buildings. Just as a reference. One of the buildings I swear has been around since the 1800’s. Many other are falling apart and really need work, one (student center where cafeteria is) was completely flooded and had severe water damage from a broken pipe. They were long due for reconstruction and it was decided to start last year. This was before the pandemic hit. So I have been working at home for two years and now HR is throwing a fit about everyone working at home. Everyone has to be back this month. So right now there’s no cafeteria for food and you have to walk across campus from the building everyone is INSISTING that they return, when before it was across the street. There’s also no parking there when there was a massive lot. They also just shut down parking in the back…
Idc if it’s a non-profit.
So I was looking into working at a thrift shop and they were looking for someone to work part-time with full availability. That blows my mind. If you are gonna do part time with minimum wage atleast be flexible with your employee. Luckily, I got a job at hotel that will pay me 4 dollars more with benefits!!!
My boss recently asked me to set a time that I take my morning, afternoon and lunch breaks. I didn’t have a problem with it, but he is being very specific. For example I said I’ll take my morning break around 10:30am… and he replied with “no if it’s 10:30, it’s 10:30.” He even told me today that he knows I haven’t been strictly following the times to take my breaks. So some days I take my breaks a little bit off? I don’t feel like taking them literally the same time (same minute) everyday. He even suggested I should put it in my calendar as a reminder! He is only telling me this, because he claims he doesn’t want people to interrupt me during my break, but I said it doesn’t bother me. He hasn’t done this to anyone else. Thoughts? Edit: I live in Canada
I’m leaving in April and I’m training one staff to be my replacement for almost a week now. Yesterday, she told another manager that she wants to transfer to his team and this manager told me. This annoys me because I want to leave, and it took them months to find this replacement for me. I’m teaching her everything that I know and yet she goes talking to another manager and tells him she wants to be with him. How do I approach about this? I don’t wanna waste my time if she is not interested in this kind of work.
So can we all agree this is BS?
Mine sure does. Annually. I used to complain about it because they track the % of each department that donate (not the amount), and use that to drive competition. Then they offer completely terrible incentives for us to participate, like a free breakfast (I work from home), forcing bosses to make funny TikTok video (I'm not 16), and other stuff I truly don't care about. Additionally, I give no fucks about the employees we're supposed to be helping. They are in that position because the company chooses to underpay them, they are paid minimum wage, and then asking the salaried employees to do donate, blindly. You have no idea where your money will go….though one year I found out some guy who had a kid on the way decided to by a BOAT, and he was selected to receive “assistance money”….What the F. That said, on the first day, I…
Ukraine is offering citizenship to any willing to fight. The rump state that emerges from this conflict will likely be admitted to the EU once the dust settles. This leaves you with a freshly minted EU passport. I think that's worth putting down a price gun and picking up a real one. Fuck you Putin! The Walmart army is coming fool!
you know what’s really fun?
Telling your parents that you want to leave your job, they say why, and you list your reasons, then they cut you down, say that you should at least work a year there, and also you should better yourself before going to a new job. Even though my manager is borderline abusive to me and my coworkers, puts all of her stress on us, snaps at us for the littlest things, and works us until we drop dead then give us just one day off.
