My boss is an egotistical, entitled, prick and I think I have a great offer at my side gig for something bigger that can pay the bills. Any tips on how to quit? My current boss does not see this coming and keeps saying “you'll learn this in time” and his wife says I'm such a great part of their family..
How to handle being pushed out?
Hi All, I'm posting for my partner who doesn't reddit but could really use the support/perspective of this issue. I've got my personal opinions about this, mostly involving using all the sick and vacation days for the next 3 weeks then just quitting on the spot… but maybe those with less emotional attachment can think more logically about this… “I've got 6+ years of banking experience. I've been in a specialized department at a large national bank for 15 months. I'm qualified for my job. From the start, I was under trained to do my daily tasks. Out of ~10 tasks, I was trained on 1. I asked for more help from my trainer, but they had moved onto helping other new employees and couldn't help. The manager was not helpful in figuring out how to handle the other tasks. He was new, too. My only resource was another…
Ok so. I left my very high paying and stressful job in Sales to work with a friend/practitioner that I have a good relationship with. She is in dire need of branding, marketing and website remodel. She didn’t have a lot of funds to pay me, so I agreed to a much lower rate (and one day a weeks work) for the next few months until things are up and running. Commencing beginning of next month. I’m paid on a daily rate (so 4 days a month) and currently haven’t been paid so far except for a couple of small procedures. Due to the amount of work, this has ended up being CONSTANT work for me. I have had to build an entire website just to send through to her web developer to set up, come into the office for filming days once a week (usually on a weekend at…
Let’s stage a socialist revolution now.
This sub has almost 2 million people. If that many people got together and marched, there’d be no way to stop them short of a nuke. Along the way we can gather others to join the cause. I understand that all of you are angry, but simply writing these depressing posts isn’t gonna do anything to deal with the problem. It’s time to actually take action. We must improve quality of life for all. Both our generation and future generations are being screwed over more and more. We need to rebuild society by removing these politicians from power and taking the wealth away from these oligarchs who control the economy. We must make a plan and gather together to end capitalism. I may be one person, but if everyone on this sub got the same idea as me, it can be done. Join the cause and get people you know…
I think it would kill my boss’s opinion of me but the dude is a pos. I doubt I could prove any protections. Probably best just to stay quiet
I’m curious about the policies the company I work for has in place. So, our shifts are 8 hours and we get a paid break, it is only 20 minutes and I found that to be strange since I’ve never worked anywhere that offered under a half an hour for 8 hours of work. So, I learned that we can punch in 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after our shift. If we punch in any sooner or out any later, they have to pay us. So if I punch out between 2:06 and 2:14 they owe me 15 more minutes of pay. But if I punch between 2:01 and 2:05 they don’t owe me the extra couple of minutes. Additionally, for our 20 minute break we have a 2 minute grace period. If you go over that 2 minutes they dock your pay 30 minutes!! I just learned this…
I got what is shaping up to be an offer at a fly fishing outfitter in Montana however they’re asking for references. i’m not in good standing with my previous employer and my current supervisors refuse to help me out for fear of our company finding out that they essentially helped me leave. Any input or thoughts from you guys is greatly appreciated and i’m kind of freaking out that I’ll miss the boat here. edit: I appreciate all of the advice and offers to be my supervisors for a day lmao! But unfortunately i’m far too much of an anxious annie to trust a redditor with my dream jobs of dream jobs
five roommates story
In my previous post, it's seems like I got grilled for not getting hired. So, here's my story from college days. I live with four roommates and we always have fun and such. Anyway, first roommate said he just got a job as dish washer and his boss asked him if he have any friends who might be interested. Second roommate put his hand up and he immediately got hired on the spot since his dad owns the restaurant in his home state, so it's no different to him. His boss was so exciting, so he asked for more friends to work. My first and second roommate recommended me to work there since they knew I was STILL looking. I (third roommate) went in the restaurant where they works but I didn't get hired on the spot. Their boss still asked them if anyone else beside me are interested to…
