Boss just took time off to sleep. Coworker took time off to see a manicurist. ME: EXHAUSTED from all the work involved in keeping my current job so I can pay my miserable goddamned rent. ME: EXHAUSTED from all the work involved in “just get a new job lmfao”. EVERYBODY ELSE has time to “chill” and relax and have “worklife balance” I HAVE BEEN FUCKING GLUED TO MY COUCH for days now while I work ALL DAY and CRAM COURSES ALL NIGHT so I can GTFO. My back hurts and my neck hurts. Hey no problem! I don't deserve to eat or sleep or do ANYTHING ELSE. Got blasted last night for being 'lazy'. Got blasted THIS MORNING for being 'lazy'. Professional adjective engaged in a specified activity as one's main paid occupation rather than as a pastime. Don’t ever allow someone on the other side of the table act like you’re the problem when they’re being unprofessional
It wasn’t even my fault. I’ve only been here two months. He used to have three vehicles with a finance company, but he’s down to just one. One his ex partner took when he left, and another got repossessed. I had three invoices with nothing but the account numbers on them. No vehicle description. No VIN number. The old bookkeeper didn’t notate the account numbers so I was at a loss for which to pay. I tried calling the finance company myself, but I’m not an authorized user. I would have pretended to be but I am a woman, and the account is owned by a man. After weeks of trying to pin him down he finally sat down with me yesterday to make the call. (He was already mad because he thinks I should just handle the bookkeeping without bothering him, which is fair, but I need to be…
My company is about to enter contract negations in May and I’m a relative newbie to the place but will be one of the negotiators for my fellow employees. I have never been in this type of situation before but see it as an opportunity to fight for every employee not just for myself or the people who have been there 35 plus years. My main focus right now are getting everyone a liveable wage that reflects the rise in cost of living and reversing a previous contract that reduced sick days from 12 to 4. I would very much appreciate any advice or insight from anyone who has experience with this and also any input on what I should fight for on behalf of my coworkers Thank you
So I was asking myself today: if its my fault because im still poor, being born poor being in my mid twenties, even though I tried to start some businesses and failed with as little as I had, and other are rich because they were born rich. Can they say that is their fault that they got rich? And the answer is no. Because I reacehd the conclusion that business is pretty much about money and luck. Like gambling. We see only the winning hands. And more money you have, more chances to win you have. I reached the conclusion that is nit my fault that I am poor as is not due to them being better that they got rich. I have to work ib order to survive but they get to try again and again to multiply somebody elses money. So, my sanity, my self, is slipping and…
Health and Safety Concern
I work at a retail pharmacy in the US, and a few weeks ago, our hot water heater went out. We put in a ticket, but my manager says that it could take months and up to a year to get it approved. It's mind-boggling that something like that isn't a fast-track fix, but despite big profits in recent years, the company is still stingy (shocking, I know!). Could I anonymously contact the local health department and report this? I feel like a tag or fine might grease the wheels and make this happen faster, but I don't want any blowback on myself.
What it says in the title: I'm a preschool teacher, I had COVID-19 symptoms and local health guidelines require 10 days of isolation before coming back to work. My boss said that's “too much” and “unnecessary since you didn't even test positive”, and that taking so many days off when in 8 years she hasn't taken any is cause for her not to trust my commitment to work and to terminate my contract.
