Return to office though company had a 94% increase in revenue year-over-year

The company also made it on the Forbes fastest growing companies in 2021. “We have grown considerably and have been very profitable during the last couple of years, so it is difficult to argue that a business model built around working remotely doesn’t work. That said, we have always maintained, and continue to feel, that it is not a sustainable model. There is simply too much good that happens with direct human interaction, and we have always believed that at some point we needed to gravitate back toward a more in-office model. Well, it’s time to start gravitating.”

If the president can work from the Whitehouse I can work from my house

No one wants to wait an hour in traffic to work somewhere when it can be from home. It's enough motivation that I quit my job and now only wfh, I have no interest in going to an office unless I want to. It's really rich for someone to push us to an office when they don't have to wait for traffic or pay for gas, fuck it take the chopper. That said I hope to god he gets primaried so I don't have to vote for him again cuz the other side ain't gonna do better.

Update: Shady circus agents, context and common tactics

Hey y'all hey, I'm the juggler who posted a clip from a convo I had recently with an agent trying to book me below my rate. It got way more responses than I expected, and there's no way I can answer all the comments, so I'm doing a little update to give some answers to the common questions that came up. First, thank's to everyone who gave positive and supportive comments. I really appreciate the solidarity and encouragement! Okay, a little context about this particular agent, and why my response went so quickly on the offensive. I've never worked with this lady, but a few months ago she tried to book my housemates, who are also circus performers. She pulled a very similar move on them, but was much more persistent in her attempt to get them to take a lower rate. I overheard a lot of those conversations, and…

Does Anyone Else Have an Irrational Response to Making Mistakes at Work?

Hi everyone, I am a very laid back person. My mum and girlfriend say that nothing really bothers me. For the most part this is true, apart from one thing. I absolutely hate making mistakes at work. When I make a mistake at work this massive sense of self loathing comes over me. I tell myself I’m useless , pathetic. Even suicidal thoughts go through my head. My work don’t really seem to mind and they’re even putting me on a course to become manager but whenever we have a big project they give us really tight deadlines with so much work. I rush through the work and then make a mistake and then I spiral. Once I get in this state I can barely think, I just get so stressed. I try and tell myself it’s okay but it just takes over my body. Does anyone else have anything…

The shift from good boss to “that” boss.

I come from a family of workers. My great grandpa was a floor salesman who worked his way up to the VP of the sport company he worked for. He was outspoken about working with athletes of color for sponsorship deals and once threw Hank Aaron a surprise birthday party. When I was a kid, he would tell me all about his exploits as a relatively high up employee in the org. He also taught me some simple rules. 1) Always be nice to the secretary and the janitor, they're the ones that actually run the show. Know their names and treat them with respect. 2) Make sure that everyone on your team is paid well enough to support themselves and their family. If they're not, they're going to look for another place to work. 3) You're never too important to be kind. If you're mean to the waiter, or…

Does anyone worry that your employer will see your post here and fire you?

I have a super crappy job that I am considering venting about but I need the money from it so bad that I fear retaliation if I say anything anywhere online. I guess when you get to the point you are going to walk out, you don't give a $hit any more.

Is it unprofessional for the interviewer to abruptly end an interview because they aren’t “getting the right vibe”?

I had an interview on Monday, that's now 2 days ago and I feel like a train wreck. If things weren't already bad enough… Being that frank to someone you don't know really takes balls. But is it wrong? Impolite? Am I just unfortunate for the experience? It definitely lessens the blow when all you ever normally get is a form response by email. They all look the same, but they don't have the sting of being directly rejected. Been out of work since I got canned over 4 months ago. It just sucks.
