Howdy! Been working in insurance for almost two years. I started during the pandemic as a completely work from home employee, this last month they've moved us to a hybrid schedule with two days per week in the office. Frankly, it's really sucked having to go into that enormous office and fend off small talk from people I hate and I'm now officially looking for other work. But what's worse than that, they now seem hellbent on not using any of the benefits of the work from home infrastructure they set up at great expense and STILL HAVE ME USING THREE DAYS A WEEK. I was recently hit by some kid in a parking lot and don't have access to my car until it's fixed. I wouldn't have even been out in my car at the time if I hadn't been forced to go into the office these last few…
When you do the math…..
I recently was on Indeed and came across an entry level, management trainee position in my area at 84 Lumber. This would be a position that is bachelor's preferred and requiring 2 – 4 years of related experience. The starting pay was listed as 40k per year. I found this interesting because when I graduated with my bachelor's in 1997, I took an entry level management position in the same area with Roadway Express for 35k to start. So I found an online inflation calculator and decided to see what the equivalent of 35k in 1997 would be in today's dollars. The answer? $61,869. And when add to the fact that both the benefits and time off are even worse, plus the cost of college being what it is, that is a joke of a starting salary. The minimum wage in my state, which is MA, is going up to…
FULL RANT 27M I was a full time customer service manager at a grocery store, I was there for 4 years and was one of the 3 only people who has gotten a promotion from just a part time cashier to customer service and was the only one who then got promoted to Full time CSM & for a time part time assistant Curbside Pickup manager. After having to deal with the pandemic and being an essential worker (we all had to sue the company through the union to even get hazard pay; which in its own was only a flat $150). After working 6 nights a week, skipping meals, 59-61avg hour work weeks, not seeing my friends or family, I only made under ~$400 a week. I physically and mentally broke down knowing that at the end of the year I basically made under 30k a year. Full time.…
There were two instances like this at my last job. they had a covid thing for a bit when it was the 10 day quarantine from work after testing positive. I had covid and asked if it was still 10 days if my symptoms got better and I was able to test negative… They said no. Still 10 days. So I said ok. I was very sick for about 3 or 4 days. Then my symptoms cleared up and since I wasn't allowed back at work PER THEIR OWN POLICY, I enjoyed my time off and worked on hobby stuff at home and did activities with my small daughter. There were photos of it on my Facebook. Because, I didn't do anything wrong. And when I got back, my program manager had made a comment about how it must have been a nice break. So I smiled and said, “yes!…
I only work to support my hobbies.
I don't care about growing a career, climbing the corporate ladder, working late, etc. The only reason why I work is so I could afford to pay for my hobbies or other leisure activities I want to take part in.

I’ve had enough….
I have worked for the company for 16 months. I just went back through my calendar and I have had 8 days off. 8 fucking days out of apprx. 480 days. All my family and friends keep telling me: “but hey, you make such great money so stop crying” I just want to lay on the couch and smoke a joint while I watch re-runs of Kitchen Nighmares…..but no, another day of the same 7 day workweek bullshit. Im grateful for the pay, but nobody should have to work 7 days a week…….I'm sick of the meat grinder of capitalism. Needed to vent because I feel like I'm suffocating
