Hello, so I am a 30something year old male renting in Tustin, CA. I make 60k a year as a Logistics Manager but would obviously love to make more. What do you guys think is a comfortable salary range? Obviously our lifestyles may vary.
I’m going to quit. What should I do?
I plan on leaving my job as soon as possible. There are several reasons for this, but suffice to say, I was a poor fit for the job and it was a poor fit for me. What are some things people should know before quitting? What steps should someone in my position take and when? I realize these may sound like questions for a normal jobs forum, but everyone already knows what they would recommend — spruce up your resume, develop a positive social media presence, be pleasant, prompt and well-dressed during interviews, have another job lined up beforehand — etc. I think a second opinion is needed for job-seekers with an antiwork perspective. — (About my situation: Over the past 20 years of my employment history, I have never been fired or quit a job. I am financially responsible for my wife (disabled) and our two-year-old. I own my…
AITA for going to my divorce court date?
Please bare with me, long post ahead and I really need advice. hello and please excuse my grammar, english it is not my first language. long story short, I (23F) started looking for a new job and applied for one at a local cofee shop, where they also sell electronic cigarettes. I was called for an interview last week, I showed up and the employer wasn't that interested in asking me questions, but made it clear he expected a few more people to be interviewed that day. He has told me the sallary would be 300 euros, which is the average in my country. well, the next day he has called me and offered me to go 3 days and work there, and if I like it, we would sign the contract. If not, he will pay me for 3 days. I agreed because it seemed a good ideea to…
Company tells me in an email to fill out the application on a link they sent me. Ok, great.. should be straight forward. It was 18 freaking pages of utter horse shit. The damn website had its bullshit auto fill super loaded down with errors so no matter what you typed, it either misspelled it, deleted it, or got frozen. I emailed the HR guy back saying “If this is how you run your operation by wasting over an hour of my time with an application form website that doesn't even work, then your company is beyond help and doesn't deserve any future employees. Do not contact me again as I have wasted enough time with you people.”
Hard working end of line
Once upon a 1990's fairytale, I was told college is the key to a suck-sessfull future. So in 2005 I took the suppository pill and went. Fast forward seventeen years and tens of thousands of dollars later…still paying on that hollow degree to the college that closed it's doors due to NO ONE GETTING A JOB ON ANY DEGREE OFFERED…ahem… Sorry for the shouting. So I was bent over the barrel, no biggie, my fault. Well damnit, they inflated my loan and sold it. Then inflated it again…and again…now I have paid for what I borrowed and owe three times what I borrowed…still…grrrrrrr Ok. Now I have a decent job, pay taxes, pay FAMILY medical/dental/vision out of every check, pay rent/utility/car insurance/phone/internet/family plan co-pay insurance/food, and have nothing left….and expected to save for retirement/vacation/incidentals/medical. My dad volunteered to check out of life in 2001, at age 46. I am 42…
Today I joined our monthly management meeting (high level execs and directors), which most of the time is about 4 hours long. Meeting started at 10am and ended at 4pm. We got one 5 min break at 1pm to 'go to the bathroom and/or get some water' and that was it…no lunch break. By the time we were done I was starving, had a massive headache and was super anxious from sitting for so long. Afterward I realized that I couldn't be the only one that thought this was ridiculous, but why didn't any of us say anything? There were 12 people in the meeting, and while I'm fairly new to the company it really bothered me that this just seems to be accepted by everyone and they just deal with it as the norm. I ran into several people after that were grabbing some food finally, and everyone jokingly…
