With all the miserable places to work out there, I thought you guys might enjoy a story of what it can be like to work in a pleasant atmosphere. My department decided, on the spur of the moment, to eat lunch together in the conference room and play bingo. The powerball drawing is coming up, and they were using the bingo balls (from the Christmas party) to choose lottery numbers. We're going to pool some cash and buy tickets. It was decided the bingo loser got to be the one to go purchase the lottery tickets. A good time was had by all. 🙂
The only manager on duty
Struggling against the urge to just walk out in the middle of my shift. I am empty inside. If this is all life is then I would rather be dead. How do you guys make it through your day doing the same things over and over again?
Bombed a life changing interview.
Titles says it all. I’ve been working sales in this shitty, mind numbing environment for some quite time. I recently had a the opportunity to escape this personal hell of unaffordable basic living necessities, debt & constant financial stress via an interview with a great company that has a significantly higher base pay than where I am currently PLUS commissions on top of that. I let one curse slip out during the zoom interview and today the recruiter calls me and tells me I am no longer in the running for the position. One slip up and people can straight up deny you from a livable wage. This money based existence is so damn exhausting. Fuck all the people on here bitching about making $100K+ simply for the fact that you guys get to live comfortably. Lots of us would kill to have what you do.
Will they just be able to fire me without “just cause” I am only paid monthly as well.. What are your thoughts on this form https://preview.redd.it/95n3tw6z8gm81.jpg?width=749&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e82e356123c455e3a63fc7bdb2f82bf2d06262dc
I am a 23 year old approaching a year of working at my current, local job. I WFH with option to come in. The office is in proximity but for the most part, every time I go it is a ghost town. Haven't been in like 6 months. Well, the state where I live is way too expensive for a college grad and my gf and I are struggling to save a buck. We want to move to a midwest bigger city that has substantially lower rent prices. I want to ask my manager/HR soon about the policies and potential of keeping the job in a different state. I know we have a few employees currently that started their jobs in a different state, but unaware if any have changed mid employment. Seeing as we are moving this summer, I have no clue when the golden timing is to bring…
“Then the business should not exist!”
Hi all, first post here, on mobile, thank you. TL;DR – I’ll be discussing my (and possibly others’) unpaid overtime wages tomorrow with the owner and would appreciate any advice, thank you. And for those who like the long form: I’ve (24m) been working at a small restaurant since June 2021. It’s the first food service job that I’ve had, and for the most part it was pretty great. But a few months in, I noticed they weren’t paying any overtime. I’m sure a fair few (or many) of you are already familiar with the tale, but essentially they don’t count split shifts as deserving of overtime, regardless of if the combined hours surpass 8 in a day. Honestly I wasn’t sure how to breach the subject, so I began by asking a couple coworkers I trusted “Hey, do you get overtime on your split shifts?” The answer would not…
Was wondering what would you consider a realistic and good salary, also explain if in your state cost of living is higher or lower, also cost for rent. How much dollar per hour and month should someone make?
