One of the biggest negative impacts on my mental health recently has been work. I decided to put in my notice due to ongoing issues that have not been addressed for several months & management generally being lying jerks about everything. Last night, one of my colleagues sent me a job listing in my industry that is everything I've been looking for. So this morning I read it to my therapist as I was talking about the decision to leave work. It really put into contrast what my worth really is, and that we all can and should be demanding more from our workplaces. Our society and businesses should exist to make things better for all of us.
Tell me what would happen if you quit your job rn?
In Germany, companies will in future be able to decide for themselves how they want to protect their employees from the corona virus; there will no longer be any mandatory requirements. The nationwide incidence rate has risen to more than 1,600 for the first time. The federal government has decided this with a new corona occupational health and safety regulation, the previous one expires on Saturday. Accordingly, employers are to prepare a “risk assessment” from next week and incorporate it into a hygiene concept, according to the Ministry of Labor. They must also allow employees to be vaccinated against Corona during working hours.
Now I have recurring dreams about working for the company I retired from, and being written up for: – having a heart attack on the job (that actually happened, and I was written up for leaving early without permission), – or having severe breathing difficulties on the job (I have IPF, which is a chronic, progressive and ultimately fatal lung disease, and I was put on a “performance improvement plan” (essentially probation) for having the gumption to cough, even though coughing goes along with IPF), – or not taking a laptop with me so I could continue working during a tornado warning (that happened in 2016 during a regional tornado outbreak, and we all gathered together in the tornado shelter with our laptops and were told to continue working). I wake up from these dreams absolutely livid, look around me, realize I'm in my bed and my partner is lying…
Just had an epiphany while reading through the contract at my new job. They have a clause that I have also ran across in the past and never paid much attention to. The clause is that anything you post on your personal social media accounts that they do not like can be cause for termination. They require that your posts contain “This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers views”. My thought is that you post positive things and then end with This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers view. Some examples include a “I think slavery is bad. This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers view.” and “genocide is horrible. This is my personal opinion and not a reflection of my employers view.” Bonus points if you tag their company social media accounts so that…
My brother's Instagram page was shown to his boss, where his bio said “leftist skinhead”. For those that don't know, skinhead culture was founded by working class British mods and black Jamaican immigrants in the 60s. It's was a bunch of working class tough guys who hated cops and loved Jamaican music, but in the 70's and 80's neo nazis appropriated the style to intimidate people, because skinheads had a reputation for violence. Anyway, my brother's Instagram was showed to his boss by someone who works at the gym who is always causing drama. His boss went and showed and told all his coworkers before he was told about it, and now they are going to use Spyware to monitor what he posts, since his account is private. Is this legal?
what’s wrong with fragrances?
My boss doesn't allow us to wear any kind of perfume or cologne, and if you wear body lotion it has to be fragrance free. Is this normal or just a whim of the manager? It's an office job where everyone has their own office and we don't work with public.
Hey I'm on the younger side, just curious I've been working at this job for 7 months now, giving my 2 weeks today for a better job, but my boss is a piece of shit, anyways the point is I feel like if they are contacted in the future, they're gonna talk shit about me and I don't wanna be denied to future jobs because of them, what do I do? I'm obviously not gonna use said boss as a reference but like what if the company trying to hire me looks up the company number, does that happen?
