The owner was drunk. It was 1pm. And not just drunk, but drunk drunk. Drinking free booze at the bar. Owners kids, family, friends, and all managers get free food, while cooks are told they can't eat on the job, they have to throw leftovers, and there are really no benefits to speak of. Cellphones are not allowed (and having one on you is a fireable offense). Being late just a few minutes will earn you a write-up. And these people proudly advertise that they're hiring for some of the lowest wages in town. But “people don't want to work anymore”. That's the problem.
Got everyone at work a raise
It's only from 10 dollars an hour to 11, but this post is to prove that you all ARE MAKING A difference. I would have never had the outburst I did when they told me they were making up the difference in tips. And no reddit lawyers, before you waste time writing a book, I proved to myself mathematically is was not only legal but also that we were making 12 dollars an hour. here is why they made the change: Before they were paying us the minimum wage plus tips. Then, the minimum wage in my state hit 11. So 10 plus tips is still 12, fuck me right? Haha, I told them I quit. I made a big spectacle, I can't even remember what I Said. All I saw was red. 2 people quit directly after me. To disappoint you all, I went back the next day after…
I drink water, as do most other living things on this planet, thus I need to use the bathroom occasionally. Today I was told not once, but twice to not only 1) clock out when I go to the bathroom and 2) use the clock-out time as my unpaid break time. Isn’t that against the law? If so, what can I do?
Work felt just like this sometimes
We are a unionized frontline care force that is going on strike starting on Monday. We are one of the the largest neurodiagnostic and prognostic care teams in the US. We staff your neuro ICUs, your cardiac ICUs, your pediatric and neonatal ICUs. We are there to figure out why the patient has altered mental status, is seizing, why they won’t wake up, or whether or not they are brain dead. We were there for every COVID patient that had a brain injury due to lack of oxygen/cardiac arrest. We are there 24/7/365 days a year. We have been told that our department is no longer profitable. That they can only afford a 0.75% annual raise increase despite our census nearly doubling since we negotiated three years ago. They have burned us out by consistently understaffing us at levels that compromise care. They have threatened our large department if we…
My job has always been busy. Whether I’m a cashier, running service desk, running orders out to people’s cars, it’s busy. I get it. However. We had one call off the other night that fucked us over. It shouldn’t take just ONE for it to be the shitshow that it was. Constant running 3 orders outside, huge lines, insanity. I ask for 40 hours, have open availability, and still barely manage 30. I have a second job because I need it. I had to close the registers for all over the store, something I was trained in once and not ready to do. I barely avoided hitting my meal compliance by 3 minutes. I cried when I got in the car. The chaos just broke me. I’ve done customer service for 5 years, and I’ve only been broken one other time. Fuck that place. I plan on looking for another…
Dilbert gets it
I don’t want to work anymore
I have a lot of experience in my field, and my resume shows I’ve been a manager in my last couple of roles. I take the tests they sometimes ask, and it says I’m proficient. They ask if I live in the city I’m applying for, I say yes. They ask if I’m willing to do this or that, I always say yes. Then I get no reply. Sometimes it says they look at my application. But no reply. But I thought you were desperate. I thought you needed anything that walked to work for you. Guess not….p Now gas is 5.00 per gallon, and I have rent coming up. I said I needed a job. You said everyone was hiring, and no one wanted to work. I’m asking for work in return to pay my bills and gas. You don’t reach out. You don’t respond at all. It’s not…
