Public Accounting
Any accountants on this sub? I’ve been trapped in tax for over ten years and it makes me so depressed. I can’t do this line of work for the rest of my life and I can’t handle the busy seasons anymore. Can anyone relate?
I've been laid off in late 2020 from my dream job working at the library. Since then I have been working part time and seasonal work until I can get back in. I had an interview for 3 open positions, 2 permanent and 1 temp. I didn't make the cut for the permanent but got the temp (bronze medal) and even though it's not ideal it gets me into the door and out of minimum wage. The next day, I got an email with red flags: “we're trying to figure out how long the position would be” (??? It was listed for 6 months originally) then “we're looking at 3 months” (umm..) then the third day I was informed that my offer was retracted because “people are coming back sooner than expected.” It's beyond frustrating that a city job would advertise a position if they might not have the budget…
Help what should I do?
Okay so I'm at a company, (new hire) where I'm gonna be working as a HelpDesk guy. IT HelpDesk Outsourcing into my Central European country basically We have 17 annual vacation days available per year. They did tell us we 'couldn't take days off during the 3-month probationary period Thing is, it's 3:42AM right now (CEST) and I just can't fucking sleep. And my next (15th) training day is today at 9AM Fuck my life. Wtf do I do? In TimeSHEET (software we use to log days off, vacation days, sick leaves, overtime, and submit our work to our supervisors so we get paid) I could take today off but most likely my supervisor would just 'reject' it and it wouldn't be valid then I can't sleep. Wtf do I do? WFH situation btw
TL;DR: Applied for job, job got in touch 3 months later, job guy was a douche, job wasn't as advertised, turned down job. So, all the way back in January (for posterity, it's now mid-March), I applied for a job with the local branch of FedEx here in my area of Denmark. The job was advertised as a 'data entry officer'. Based on the post, I was under the impression that the job involved entering data and doing some ad hoc copying and filing. It sounded like just the thing for me since I'm looking for low-stress, not-too-demanding, low-impact work, for medical reasons. While I was busy at my current job (which is not in my preferred area, hence applying for something new) today, I missed a call on my personal phone and received an email asking when I may be available to talk about the data entry agent position…
best response I’ve ever seen
I’ll try to make this short. For the past 2 years, I’ve been working from home. 90% of my job can be done this way. I admit there are times where I have to go in. But not often. We are required to come in Mondays, Thursday’s, and one other day of our manager’s choosing. Luckily my manager is cool and let me choose, but I will be getting a new manager soon because of reorganization. I don’t want to go back 3 days per week. Period. It’s a total waste of my time, the commute is annoying, and I’m just so much happier especially with my social anxiety, being at home. Anytime someone tries to not come in the 3 days, some other employee reports it to HR. Should I put my foot down and tell my current and soon-to-be manager that I want to continue to WFH and…
