New Company Bonus Program

I am new to the management side, but it was announced at the beginning of the year that the executives created a new bonus program. We get a large bonus every 4 months and the ones that hit all our goals for the year are going to go on a team all paid “tropical vacation”. What irritated me was that they gave us managers the option to share the money with our team or not. I guess that has always been the policy. In all the time I've worked for this company, I have never heard of a manager sharing their bonus. Is this NORMAL? Why is it an option and why don't they just give our workers bonuses too? When I mentioned that I plan to share mine, I got dirty looks and comments about “opening a can of worms.” I responded that if my team is happy, it…

Everyone that can afford to eat at the restaurants I used to cook for is always shocked at how little I made

One of my breaking points was a wedding that cost 1 million over the course of 3 days while I was making 12.50/hr with no benefits in 2019 With that particular job it was a contractor that set up shop in a museum and I did sell them my soul for a solid 6 months but apparently I needed to sell them my soul for 12 months to get insurance and paid time off. The cafe shifts were only 6 hours and it was all or nothing with events so getting benefits required 6 days a week in the cafe and events all year round I loved that career but I maxed at 12.50/hr with questionable benefits without selling my soul to management for about 33-38K salaried When I end up talking to people who can regularly afford to eat at places like that they had no idea how little…

If you show up 15 minutes early 5 days a week, you will spend and extra 65 hours at work every year.

Also the clock at work was purposely set 5 minutes ahead of time which i now realize was to make us come in 5 min earlier because if we didn't we'd get reprimanded. That's 22 hours per year that they got from every employee just for showing up 5 minutes earlier because of the clock. We had 9 employees so that's ~200 hours of unpaid labor per year.

I can understand taking pride in something you made but taking pride in being exploited so hard just makes no sense.
