I Wish I Could Make Things Better
Last night, my Mom came home from work, doing an afternoon shift. To make a long explanation short, she had a terrible day at work. Mom works as a lab technician at a hospital (I don't want to say which one because I don't want to get her in trouble) and her job treats her like crap. There is no simple way to put this. She is treated badly at work. She made an attempt to find another job in our area, but that is easier said than done. She works hard and is the smartest woman I know, however, she feels like her shitty coworkers make her feel like a big failure. I want to help her, but I am a disabled person, trying to get assistance and through programs that work with disabled people, try to get employment. However, I also realize certain employers take advantage of people…
Struggling new realtor
I know people don’t like realtors, I don’t either. So far my brokerage has been full of the worst people. Assholes and bullies, domineering and dominating older women in my office, a mentor who took advantage of my contract, and a client who sexually harassed me (I kept the text messages). I was desperate for money, I was really really really running low and no one would help me figure out how the fuck to make money. I needed to maybe join a team or work at least with rentals or as a showing assistant but because my mentor wouldn’t make any money from that as their cut would be so small (“My tIMe iS vERy vAlUaBle,” she exclaimed to me,) she wasn’t interested in helping me. They pressured me into buying $100 raffle tickets for the office, happy hours with bully-type other women, etc. Well I ran out of…
Dont know if this is the correct sub, but recently tried to get my tax forms from work so I could file my taxes for this year. I went in and spoke to HR and she told me they were going paperless (which has been super annoying for a billion other things as well) for the tax info. She gave me the link where I can get it all from and I went about my day. I got home, went to the site and logged in only to find out that my only options to receive my forms are download or by mail, both of which cost 30 fucking dollars. Are you kidding me? I make minimum wage in my state and now I need to use several hours of my pay to get my own tax form downloaded? What the fuck is this corporate bullshit nonsense. I called HR…
I (F21) work at a well known convenience store in the midwest. I work third shifts on the weekends and we usually only have three people working overnight. On saturday night we had an incident with a woman that came in. She was high on some kind of drug. It sounds like a funny situation when I describe it to other people, but I was terrified while it was happening. She came in and started dancing around the store while speaking total gibberish. The other two people I was working with were two girls near my age. None of us are super big, so it’s not like we could easily fend off this woman if she were to attack us, which at the time seemed like a possibility because she was acting so strange. I called the police and within this time the woman had come into the store two…
WHY. Why do you need at least 12 months employment somewhere to be eligible for FMLA? How can you predict when you will need such support? I keep wishing that I misunderstood the requirements, but no, looks like my 9 months of current employment are not good enough. Aside from using scarce PTO, is there any other solution for a personal illness that needs recuperation and is medically documented?
Exhausted Instead Of Appreciation
So I've just logged of my system and came to know about this Antiwork group on Reddit and realise what I did wrong. To explain let me take you back in 2019 when I joined a MNC and due to my to much freaking focus on work my assistant manager moved me in a department where I have to check and give resolution to client escalation. At first everyone at my workplace were quite surprised that I was moved in suck in complicated process however I took it as challenge and worked my ass off to sort out everything. I had 3 other team members and we all were just working fine until COVID hit us and we started WFH. At first we all were happy that we'll be working from home and everyone used that liberty pretty well but as time passed things started to get a bit complicated.…
Economy In Shambles polls
WaPo-ABC poll “finds deeply pessimistic nation, worried about the economy…” Oh gee, really? I wonder who has time to take these polls? Could it be the same generation that enabled the current economic developments? You know, the ones that endangered their own pensions by embracing unbridled greed… Also, why do they ask people on the street about the economy? I’ve interacted with people, most are not capable of describing how to tie shoelaces. I can’t name all the factors that go into a functioning economy, but I know it’s more than gas and fast food prices. Lastly, doesn’t this make sense? The world is on fire and collapsing. Why do people treat [any given] POTUS like he’s their dad? Source: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/02/27/biden-post-abc-poll/
This is a rather long post, so I apologize in advance. To start, I was a Design Team Manager for an unlimited graphic design service based in the US. My colleagues and I all worked for the company remotely; a huge chunk of us were located in the Philippines, while some were from India and its neighboring countries. Most of the graphic designers working for the company are outsourced from here in the Philippines, similar to a lot of unlimited graphic design services (like Design Pickle, for instance). Just to give a little background on how all this stuff went down: Though I started out pretty well with this company and moved up pretty quickly up its ranks, I oftentimes voiced my concerns on how the graphic designers were being treated and compensated. Being a graphic designer myself, I do know how arduous design work can be so I try…
Terrible smelling coworker
I currently work in an office setting, sharing the office with 2 others. It's a decent sized office, but no windows. One of my coworkers smells terrible he's got some medical condition where he sweats profusely to the point the armrests on his chair are stained white with salt. He constantly looks damp, wiping himself throughout the day. The smell is unbearable . I purchased a desk fan. Brought in my diffuser. Trying anything I can think of to make work bearable. Worst part is I'm newly pregnant, and I get nauseated from the smells. What would you suggest?
