I had an asthma attack at work last night.

So like the title says I had an asthma attack at work last night. The weather quickly and drastically shifted from high 70’s-low 80’s to in the 40’s. This set my asthma off something horrible. This mixed with being in a hot ass fast food kitchen almost took me out. My manager just told me to sit in the second window and TAKE ORDERS. Bitch I’m DYING! I called my GM and told her I was leaving no matter what. My boyfriend atp had already left his job to come get me and take me to get my nebulizer, and this shift manager was still tripping on me. I told her I was going to go outside and she said if I did “I better not come back” As soon as my boyfriend showed up I left and not even five minutes into the drive my GM asked if I…

My Current Job is Secretly Firing Me

On mobile so please ignore my formatting. To start off, I work at a nonprofit rescue center. I make $13.50 an hour and work anywhere between 20 – 45 hours a week. On February 23, I got bit by a dog. I had no training before hand, I had no idea what to do. I called my manager, who didn’t pick up. The only people who helped me were my coworkers. Last Monday, I emailed my manager and said I no longer wanted to work with the dogs. Not going to lie, I have some trauma. My boss told me if I was to only work with cats, it would be less pay and less hours. I said “Sure just let me know the pay/hours.” He said he would let me know the next day (Tuesday). Wednesday, I email him- he says he will get back to me the NEXT…

“The only reason”

I worked six years in a retail environment then worked almost two years at a storage facility. An acquaintance recommended me when his company opened a call center and I got hired. It was $4 more an hour and it was entry level versus management. (My last two jobs had been in management.) I actually liked my storage facility job but $4 more an hour changed my life. I worked weekdays only. At my management job, I was paying rent late every month and selling belongings to make ends meet. I liked my manager, I liked the way they treated employees. But I really couldn't believe it when i got asked “is the only reason you're leaving for the better pay?” The only reason I work is for the pay. Yes, I'm leaving for the better pay. “Well, we'd like to promote you eventually.” (I had already been promoted and…

All new CEOs should be forced to work 3 of the lowest paid jobs before taking their CEO role

By this I mean come in and work each of those jobs for a week, get paid the same amount as those employees get paid and get a performance review at the end of the week or two week period. Maybe two weeks for each job. If the tough it out and get good performance reviews they can than take the CEO role. But their first pay check is based on the wages they earned doing those jobs.

How can a job that doesn’t provide health insurance require a doctor’s note?

What kind of circular logic is this? I work in a call center. I applied for a shift that fits my family responsibilities. They are moving me to this graveyard shift. I told them that time slot doesn’t let me drop my kids off or pick them up. They said I need a doctors note to protest. They don’t give me any days off. They don’t provide me with health insurance. They don’t pay me enough to pay out of pocket. But I need to take a day off and see a doctor and HOPEFULLY get a note to keep the job I applied for. End of rant.

I quit my nightmare job on Friday and it feels like a 1 million pound weight has been lifted off my shoulders

My friends of antiwork, brace yourselves for a long story that will probably be one of the craziest stories you've ever seen in this subreddit. This is a post that I've been dreaming of writing for quite a while now, but needed certain dominos to fall before I could finally quit on Friday. Here we go. Background: I had worked for a very small residential remodeling firm. I was one of four employees including my boss who owned the company. When I interviewed for the job, there were so many red flags that basically screamed this man doesn't know what he's doing, he isn't organized, and that I wouldn't really learn anything new in the role. However, I needed a job to pay my bills, and he offered me a salary and title that was tough to pass up. I figured maybe I was being too critical and if…

My boss is pissed that I have a medical emergency

I broke a bone over the weekend and sent them an immediate text letting them know I’ll have to get surgery sometime next week. I find out on Monday. My boss proceeds to leave me on read for over 24 hours and then responds coldly that “their schedule is too intense this week and I need to schedule it on Friday”. I’ve been stressed beyond belief since the accident happened and the last thing I should worry about is my boss being pissed at me. My boss would rather have me be in pain for over a week for THEIR convenience. I also have no say over when the hospital can schedule me in. How can these types of bosses sleep at night?
