senior devs talking about their job
Last time I went to my schedulded interview time, the store was not open and neither the manager. I don't want to do that again and now its happening again where my interview takes place an hour before store's opening. Is this normal?
So Anyone who seems to legit care about their workers and such or even offer me something better obviously not. I'm talking about the interviews that are like “Can you explain the gap in your resume?” “Can You tell me your biggest weakness”? “Why do you want this job? when they say do you have any questions for me Can you explain the gap in this postion? Can you tell me the companies biggest weakness? Why do you want Me to fill this position? If your uncomfortable with these questions being asked to you why do you ask them to everyone else who walks in the door? or If you think these questions are disrespectful to you then why are you being disrespectful to your interviewees? Just something I have always thought of doing. but never followed through on yet. I don't know maybe it would ruin future employment maybe?
I was just talking to my mom yesterday, she is a 70 year old woman who has literally 40 years of experience in sales and marketing from the ground up. She was the president of 3 different companies sales and marketing departments for 15 years total. You quite literally CANNOT have more experience in sales and marketing then her, you could have different experience, and niche experience that would certainly make you a valuable addition to any team. But in terms of just numerical quantity, she has more. So not really needing a job, but not enjoying the staleness of retirement quite like she hoped, she figured fuck it l will go see if l can get so e tame work for someone that needs it. She applied to a small start up that frankly could really use the help, their marketing is god awful. They are in the business…
new project, same problem
I worked as a code monkey at a company for 8 years. Ive posted about the shenanigans in this place, but when you think it cant get worse, it does. I was on a project for the last 3 years, completely mismanaged. Upper management saw this, and shut it all down this week, and fired those responsible. Finally! Some sense right? I get moved to a new department, and we are told to wait for more information. We sit all week before we learn we are just going to be porting data from some old systems to our new flagship software. Simple, easy, the planning was already done, estimations have been provided. Its literally a “follow the numbers” job. Not even a couple days into the project when asking where documentation is, or even where the systems are located, or even the source code. Upper management returns with “Its your…
With the oil prices going up and basically inflation, wouldn't it be like a loss when you are only given a small amount of increase. I'm not sure how to ask my boss to give me a higher salary increase. At what percent is okay?
I've worked at my job for 10 years, with the last 4 being in middle management. My crew of 4 has been around for three of those years, two of them being 21-22 yrs of age. Ive always felt like we were a small company that got lucky with a ton of business. We now have a new ops manager who I basically play puppet for. When he came on, we were told pay raiser would be evaluated at the end of the year from that date. Fast forward 15 months (I've had my teams reviews done for 3 months), am now being told that a new pay structure is in place with it coming from my scores rating of 1-4. Most of my scores have been downgraded which results in my lead shipper not receiving a raise! It's fucking crazy!! This dude busts his ass for over a year…
